The Mannes Orchestra to Join Forces with New York Choral Society for Performance, 4/8

?The Mannes Orchestra, the student orchestral ensemble of Mannes College at The New School, and the New York Choral Society will join forces to perform John Adams' On The Transmigration of Souls and Paul Hindemith's When Lilacs Last in the Dooryard Bloom'd, April 8 at Carnegie Hall. David Hayes, who leads both groups, will conduct the performance of these two masterpieces, both of which are inspired by profound historic events and celebrate the strength and resilience of the American spirit. On The Transmigration of Souls will feature the critically acclaimed Young People's Chorus of New York City. When Lilacs Last in the Dooryard Bloom'd will showcase the soloists Abigail Fischer (mezzo-soprano) and Lee Poulis (baritone).
Joshua Gersen Named Assistant Conductor of New York Philharmonic for 2015-16 Season

Joshua Gersen, age 30, has been named New York Philharmonic Assistant Conductor beginning in September 2015. He will assist Music Director Alan Gilbert and all guest conductors throughout the season, and will lead educational events, including Young People's Concerts and Young People's Concerts for Schools.

The New York Choral Society (NYCHORAL) and Orchestra and Music Director David Hayes, on Sunday, January 25, 2015 at 3:00 pm at Carnegie Hall, will present the rarely heard St. Paul by Felix Mendelssohn. Soloists will include soprano Sarah Shafer, mezzo-soprano Haejung Shin, tenor Vale Rideout, baritone Mark Delavan and the Princeton Girlchoir. David Hayes will conduct. This performance will be sung in the original German with English supertitles.

As a thank you to the Milwaukee community for its support during the season, the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra in partnership with Milwaukee County Parks presents a free outdoor concert on Sunday, June 8, 2014 in Cathedral Square Park, led by Associate Conductor Francesco Lecce-Chong.
