The William Inge Theatre Festival has a long rich history of honoring great living playwrights, acknowledging these too-often underappreciated creative heroes of the stage. But the 32nd annual Inge Festival in 2013 changes pace: honoring its namesake American icon William Inge, to celebrate the centennial of his birth.
The Baltimore Playwrights Festival continues its Thirty-First Season with the July 20th opening of Lethal Injection, by Michael Reimann, at The Vagabond Players, 806 South Broadway, Baltimore, Md (410-563-9135). Directed by Larry Pinker, Lethal Injection runs through August 5th, with performances Friday and Saturday at 8 p.m. and Sunday at 2 p.m. Tickets are $12 and can be purchased on-line at www.vagabondplayers.org, or at the door.

A reception will follow. Fredrik died in her Weston, Connecticut home on May 22 caused by complications from a stroke she suffered over two years ago.

Last night's star-studded event at the Geffen Playhouse and the pre-show host committee dinner at Los Angeles' The Backyard restaurant grossed over $1 million for the Geffen Playhouse's education, outreach and artistic initiatives. The British Academy of Film and Television Arts Los Angeles® (BAFTA Los Angeles), which is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year, announced today that American Idol and So You Think You Can Dance producer Nigel Lythgoe will chair the Britannia Committee, which oversees the production of the Britannia Awards. The 2012 Britannia Awards will take place on Wednesday, November 7 at the Beverly Hilton Hotel.
Cindy Adams writes in today's New York Post that James Lapine will executive produce a documentary on Broadway legend Stephen Sondheim. The film, due out next year, will include 'material is on Sondheim's life, fresh interviews he's not given before, videos and new versions of his songs.'

Beginning at 11:00 a.m. plays to be read are Raising David Walker by Peter Snoad, followed at 1:00 p.m. by Lethal Injection by Michael Reimann, and at 3:00 p.m. by Our Lady of Sandwich by Mario Baldessari and Keith Bridges. After each reading there will be a discussion of the script with the playwright, director and actors. The event is free, and the general public is encouraged to attend.
