The American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers (ASCAP) honored the songwriters and publishers of Christian music's most performed songs of the past year at the 37th annual ASCAP Christian Music Awards, held on Monday, March 23rd at the historic Franklin Theatre in Franklin, Tennessee. ASCAP President and Chairman of the Board Paul Williams was on hand to help celebrate the evening's honorees before an audience of distinguished songwriters, Christian music stars and music industry leaders. Producer Eva Price has announced that Benjamin Scheuer, writer and performer of the gripping, highly acclaimed autobiographical solo show The Lion, has been awarded the 2015 ASCAP Foundation Jamie deRoy & friends Songwriting Award. He will receive a grant of $1,250, which will be presented on Wednesday, December 9, 2015 at The Appel Room at Jazz at Lincoln Center.

Warner/Chappell Music (WCM), the music publishing arm of Warner Music Group, was named Publisher of the Year at last night's BMI R&B/Hip-Hop Awards. In addition, WCM songwriters took home a collective 19 Most Performed Song of the Year Awards, eight of which went to Dwayne Carter AKA Lil Wayne, who was named Songwriter of the Year.
'To win Publisher of the Year at the BMI R&B/Hip-Hop Awards is an enormous accomplishment for WCM, and we couldn't be more proud of our incredibly talented songwriters. I'd also like to thank our dedicated team for their tireless hard work, and BMI for this wonderful recognition,' said Jon Platt, President, North America, Warner/Chappell Music.
