Lucia di Lammermoor is undoubtedly, together with L’elisir d’amore, the most famous opera by Gaetano Donizetti and the most performed throughout the world. Thanks to a 1985 donation by the Perolari family, the city of Bergamo was able to acquire the autograph score of this opera, which was first performed at the San Carlo Theatre in Naples in 1835. The score is preserved in the Mai Library. In a few weeks this precious manuscript will travel across the ocean for the first time to be exhibited at the Italian Cultural Institute in New York directed by Fabio Finotti on the occasion of the new, highly anticipated production of Lucia di Lammermoor at the Metropolitan Opera. The production will be conducted by Riccardo Frizza, who is also the music director of the Donizetti Opera Festival in Bergamo .

Guildhall Art Gallery is mounting a fascinating new exhibition examining the ways in which visual artists have taken inspiration from the literary arts.  Inspired: Art inspired by theatre, literature and music will explore the relationship between poetry, plays, novels and music with the visual arts.

Greater Toronto Art 2021 (GTA21), a critically acclaimed exhibition at the Museum of Contemporary Art Toronto (MOCA), has been extended due to popular success and will now close January 30, 2022.

The Mirror and the Light, currently running at the Gielgud Theatre in London's West End, has entered its final four weeks with its last performance on Sunday 28th November 2021. The production has been a flagship theatrical event for the reopening of London's West End, delighting audiences since it opened earlier this year. 

Forbidden love, political intrigue, and a soprano gone mad: Madison Opera returns to Overture Hall to open its 61st season with Donizetti's Lucia di Lammermoor. Performances of this classic bel canto work are Friday, November 5 at 8 PM and Sunday, November 7 at 2:30 PM.

On September 29, 2021, the Museum of Contemporary Art Toronto (MOCA) will launch Greater Toronto Art 2021 (GTA21), a triennial survey. The first edition brings together 21 energizing artists and art collectives who work in the Greater Toronto Area or have direct connections with the city.

The third and final novel in the Wolf Hall trilogy has been adapted for the West End stage by Dame Hilary Mantel and Ben Miles. Jeremy Herrin, who was nominated for an Olivier Award, a Tony Award and won the Evening Standard Award for the first two productions, returns to direct. Nathaniel Parker resumes his Olivier Award winning portrayal of Henry VIII.

New names added to the cast are: Melissa Allan (Princess Mary), Samuel Awoyo (Ensemble), Ian Drysdale (French Ambassador), Jo Herbert (Lady Rochford), Andrew Hodges (Ensemble), Niamh James (Ensemble), Umi Myers (Helen Sadler / Dorothea Wolsey), Liam Smith (Walter Cromwell) and Nicholas Tizzard (Ensemble).

As previously announced Ben Miles will return to his role as Cromwell to complete the trilogy. Nathaniel Parker joins him, resuming his Olivier Award-winning and Tony Award nominated role as Henry VIII. The full cast of 23 will be the biggest yet in the series, with 13 actors announced today, five of whom - Miles, Parker, Nicholas Boulton (Duke of Suffolk), Matt Pidgeon (Stephen Gardiner) and Giles Taylor (Archbishop Cranmer) - return to their roles in the earlier plays.

Opera in the Ozarks has announced its 2021 season, consisting of three upcoming productions.

The Museum of Contemporary Art Toronto (MOCA) today announced that it has received a significant donation of $1million. The gift from a donor, who wishes to remain anonymous, will be applied to the Museum’s annual exhibition programme.

The presentations, filmed live in high-definition at the War Memorial Opera House, will be viewable on demand for free with registration at sfopera.com on the first streaming date starting at 10 am (PDT) and expiring at 11:59 pm the following day.

San Francisco Opera will present Donizetti's Lucia di Lammermoor on Sunday, October 25, 2020 at 6 PM at Fort Mason Flix Drive-In. This one-night-only opportunity to witness opera on the 40' X 20' LED screen at the Marina District drive-in and enjoy snacks from Off the Grid food trucks will feature the Company's 2008 performance of Lucia di Lammermoor starring French soprano Natalie Dessay.

Opera in the Ozarks will not return until 2021.

Third Man Records has re-launched Third Man Public Access, which will now consist of long-form broadcasts of exclusive content, intimate at-home performances, readings, music videos and more from Third Man artists and friends in lieu of live-streamed performances.
