CAMP WOODS PLUS Set for 1/31 at L'Etage

CAMP WOODS PLUS, a new monthly comedy showcase hosted by local sketch comedy group Camp Woods, will hold its second edition Tuesday, January 31 at L'Etage in Queen Village. The show - Philadelphia's only alternative sketch comedy showcase - debuted in November to a sold-out crowd, and is quickly taking its place as a must-see event within the city's burgeoning comedy scene.

THE SCOTTSBORO BOYS Comes to Philadelphia, 1/20-2/19

The landmark trial of the Scottsboro Boys is brought to life in Philadelphia Theatre Company's production of the multiple Tony-nominated musical The Scottsboro Boys with music and lyrics by the legendary team of John Kander and Fred Ebb and book by David Thompson, running January 20-February 19 at the Suzanne Roberts Theatre (Broad and Lombard Streets).

Philadelphia audiences will be the first to experience this breathtaking production before it travels as the second national tour of a Walnut Street Theatre production. Proof begins in Philadelphia with previews on January 17th, opens January 19th and runs through February 5th in the intimate Independence Studio on 3.

John Cullum, Julie Halston Honored At T. Schreiber Studio Alumni Celebration

T. Schreiber Studio and Theatre (Terry Schreiber and Peter Jensen, Co-Artistic Directors) announced that it will host an Alumni Celebration, commemorating the grand opening of the studio's new expanded space and offering an alumni tribute to the working actor as well as to the late playwright John Bishop, on Friday, January 20, 2012 from 6:00 pm until 9:00 pm at its Chelsea home (151 West 26th Street, 7th Floor).

New Theatre Kicks Off 2012 With World Premiere Of Robert Caisley's WINTER Now Playing

New Theatre (THE NEW) kicks off 2012 with the World Premiere of Winter, by Robert Caisley, running Now thru February 19, 2012, in its new intimate home at The Roxy Performing Art Center. In this witty new play, what begins as a scheduling 'headache' arranging their Mother's funeral, fraternal twins Peter and Christina Winter, evolves into an all-out blood feud between the siblings and their mother's mysterious, young live-in assistant.

Tony Award Nominee Forrest McClendon Stars in Arts Bank Theater's BIG RIVER

Students from the Ira Brind School of Theater Arts at The University of the Arts will share the stage with special guest star Forrest McClendon - a 2011 Tony ® Award nominee and Barrymore Award winner - in a concert performance of Big River. This production will be on stage for one weekend only with three performances from February 23-25, 2012 at the University's Arts Bank Theater. Big River is adapted from Mark Twain's classic novel The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, with music and lyrics by Roger Williams and book by William Hauptman.
