T. Schreiber Studio and Theatre (Terry Schreiber and Peter Jensen, Co-Artistic Directors) announced that it will host an Alumni Celebration, commemorating the grand opening of the studio's new expanded space and offering an alumni tribute to the working actor as well as to the late playwright John Bishop, on Friday, January 20, 2012 from 6:00 pm until 9:00 pm at its Chelsea home (151 West 26th Street, 7th Floor).

Terry Schreiber will present the 2012 Distinguished Playwright Award posthumously to John Bishop, whose wife Lisa will accept the award. John Bishop wrote The Trip Back Down, which originated at the studio, directed by Terry Schreiber, in 1975.

Honored Guest John Cullum (Tony Award® winner for Best Actor in a Musical for Shenandoah and On The Twentieth Century), who performed in The Trip Back Down when it transferred to Broadway, will present five Distinguished Alumni Awards to actors who studied at the studio in the past and who have worked in theatre, film and television continually for the past 25 years.

The recipients include Julie Halston (Broadway: Anything Goes, Hairspray, Gypsy; TV: "Sex and the City," " "The Electric Company"), William C. Mitchell (Film: Syriana; TV: "Southland," "Law & Order," "The Starter Wife." Theater: August Wilson's Radio Golf, Milwaukee Rep.), Fred Morsell (Theater: Actors' Theatre of Louisville, the McCarter Theatre, The New York Shakespeare Festival, Presenting Frederick Douglass; TV: "Kojak," "The Twilight Zone," "Hill Street Blues"), Taylor Nichols (Film: Metropolitan, Barcelona, The Last Days of Disco, The American President; TV: "Murder She Wrote," "Chicago Hope," "Criminal Minds"), and Judith Scarpone (Broadway: The Twilight of the Golds. Regional: Kennedy Center, Pasadena Playhouse, The Paramount, Walnut Street Theatre; TV: "Hung," "Drew Carey Show," "Ellen").

T. Schreiber Studio and Theatre recently completed the expansion of its physical plant, adding 3,000 square feet on the 10th floor of 151 West 26th Street, which houses its current studios and Gloria Maddox Theatre on the 7th floor. The new studio space will be used for classes, rehearsals and its one-year conservatory program, now in its second year.

The Alumni Celebration will feature wine and hors d'oeuvres. Tickets to the event are $65 online at www.tschreiber.org/special-events/alumnicelebration or by calling (212) 741-0209.
