2017 TED Global Fellow Marc Bamuthi Joseph Announces 2017 Events

Recognized as one of the most vital voices in performance, arts education, and artistic curation, Marc BAMUTHI Joseph is hailed for producing and/or performing riveting works of political, economic, and social significance. Bamuthi is synonymous with influential community engager, urban talent, and a world-renowned career; and his 2017 TEDGlobal Fellowship continues to elevate his stature. Upcoming 2017 highlights include: the New York premiere of his latest work /peh-LO-tah/ at the BAM Next Wave Festival, the world premiere of We Shall Not Be Moved opera (his first libretto), Oakland's 10th Annual Life is Living Festival (which he founded), speaking engagements at the TEDGlobal 2017 Conference in Tanzania, Create Justice: A National Discussion on Arts and Justice, Chicago Humanities Festival, YBCA's Transform Festival and 100 Summit, and more. Russian Crime Novelist and Political Dissident Boris Akunin to Take on HAMLET Off-Broadway

The best-selling Russian crime fiction writer Boris Akunin's new stage adaptation of Shakespeare's HAMLET will debut this spring Off-Broadway when Red Lab Productions and Roust Theatre Company present HAMLET. A VERSION, with previews beginning April 21, prior to the official press opening on April 25 at The Theater at St. Clement's (423 W. 46 St.) in New York City. HAMLET. A VERSION is directed by Irina Gachechiladze. The production features original music by Georgian composer Giya Kancheli.

Artists Rep & Isinglass Partner to Host Summer Theatre Leadership Academy for High School Students

Artists Repertory Theatre is partnering with local arts advocacy non-profit Isinglass to offer Egg, the organization's three year-old summer theatre leadership academy. Egg is an intensive seven-week program that teaches high school students the art and business of producing their own theatrical production. This summer 2017 program concludes with a week-long planning session for students to develop theatre and arts advocacy projects which they implement in their own schools during the following school year.

PS122 and The Chocolate Factory Bring Daniel Fish's UNTITLED to COIL 2017 Tonight

As part of the twelfth edition of PS122's Coil festival, Performance Space 122 and The Chocolate Factory Theater present Daniel Fish's latest, untitled work. Made for a very small audience, and performed during daylight hours, Untitled uses light, set and sound to ruminate on the passage of time, our perception of it, and to pose questions about how alert an audience can be as both individuals and a group.

Twelfth Edition of PS122's Coil Features Dance, Theater, Virtual Reality and More

Performance Space 122's annual performance festival, Coil, returns for its twelfth edition with 13 individual events. The festival explores the constant vitality of live performance in New York City through contemporary artists from diverse genres, cultures and perspectives. Featuring work created locally, across the U.S., and around the world, Coil is known for its groundbreaking contemporary performance across interdisciplinary art, working with new technologies and forms. Through installations, live and virtual practices, PS122 is committed to redefining how, where, and when performance is experienced.
