The New York Philharmonic and Music Director Alan Gilbert announce the launch of Alan Gilbert and the New York Philharmonic: 2014-15 Season - a series of eight recordings of live performances from the current season, plus a bonus album of selections from the inaugural NY PHIL BIENNIAL, now available for download and streaming through major digital download services. Building on its tradition as a media pioneer, the Philharmonic is expanding its digital recordings series by offering two of the releases through Google Play Music's newly launched Classical Live - a new initiative that makes recent, live recordings by the world's leading orchestras available on Google Play Music both as digital downloads and by streaming subscription.

Wallach Artist-in-Residence Lisa Batiashvili will continue her tenure with performances of Barber's Violin Concerto, and The Marie-Jose?e Kravis Composer-in- Residence Christopher Rouse's tenure concludes with performances of Iscariot, the final work by Mr. Rouse to performed during his three-year tenure. Ten young instrumentalists from the Music Academy of the West are about to inaugurate the New York Philharmonic Global Academy Fellowship Program January 3-13, 2015, when they travel to New York City to train and play alongside New York Philharmonic musicians. All ten instrumentalists are from the prestigious Music Academy of the West in Santa Barbara, California, selected by audition to be the inaugural Zarin Mehta Fellows. At a time when there is more competition than ever to succeed in the music profession, these Fellows will be immersed in all aspects of an orchestral player's life, from audition to performance, learning invaluable career skills.

The inaugural class of the Shanghai Orchestra Academy (SOA) -- founded by the New York Philharmonic, Shanghai Symphony Orchestra, and Shanghai Conservatory of Music -- begins studies with two weeks of coaching and master classes in Shanghai by nine New York Philharmonic musicians, September 4-12.

The New York Philharmonic and the Music Academy of the West have entered into a four-year partnership that will create unique and intensive opportunities for selected Music Academy Fellows to train with New York Philharmonic musicians and Music Director Alan Gilbert in Santa Barbara and New York. Alan Gilbert, the New York Philharmonic, its Assistant Conductors, and musicians will have a presence at the Music Academy Summer Festival for training and performances each summer for four years beginning in 2014, culminating in a joint concert with the New York Philharmonic and Academy Festival Orchestra celebrating the Music Academy's 70th anniversary in 2017.
