FEINSTEIN'S/54 BELOW, Broadway's Supper Club, presents jazz quintet The Cafe Society as they honor "the grand diva of jazz," Nancy Wilson, on February 1, 2019 at 9:30pm. Deadline reports that Woody Harrelson is in talks to star in Fruit Loops a new drama from Ted Melfi. It is said to be similar to One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest.

Sandy Shore's Jazz Weekender hosted by Nathan East proposes a new way to gather around live music. With a focus on comfort in an intimate, high-fidelity venue, renowned recording artists will perform"seamless sets" of music, that will segue from special guest to special guest without interruption. Encouraging artful collaboration, Jazz Weekender headliners will share crossover songs as they mix in and out of the set, while performing with the some of the most recorded musicians in the world. Global Radio visionary,  Sandy Shore, introduces the element of surprise, as she curates live music sets -- making things exciting for audiences and artists alike.

Nashville's Oginalii (pronounced 'oh-gan-ALL-ee' and which translates to 'my friend' in Cherokee) will embark on a co-headlining tour with West Virginia-based NPR Slingshot Artist Hello June; the tour kicks off in Cincinnati on February 26th, and carries the bands to stops along the east coast. Oginalii will also travel to Austin, Texas for an official showcase and additional performances at this year's SXSW Music Festival, before celebrating the release of their forthcoming debut LP Cause and Affection. On February 3, 1959, a chartered aircraft crashed in Mason City, Iowa just minutes after takeoff claiming the lives of Buddy Holly, Ritchie Valens, J.P. "The Big Bopper" Richardson and the pilot, Roger Peterson. The fateful day was coined "The Day The Music Died" by iconic singer and songwriter Don McLean, in his hit song "American Pie." As the 60th anniversary of the tragic plane crash approaches, McLean has not forgotten the day that inspired his magnum opus.

A new semester is beginning at Cornley University this winter as the Tony Award-winning Broadway production of Mischief Theatre's The Play That Goes Wrong moves up the block to New World Stages

Presented by Center Theatre Group, performances for Matthew Bourne's "Cinderella" from New Adventures will begin on February 5 at the Ahmanson Theatre. With direction and choreography by Matthew Bourne and music by Prokofiev, "Cinderella" will open on February 6 at 8 p.m. and performances will continue through March 10, 2019.

Following another all-night negotiation at Sundance, Amazon Studios has acquired worldwide rights to VICE Studios' political thriller The Report. Amazon is targeting a fall release later this year during the awards corridor.

NBC has named comedian Mike E. Winfield as the winner of its 15th annual StandUp NBC competition, the network's annual nationwide search for comedians of diverse backgrounds. Winfield has been awarded a talent holding deal with NBCUniversal and a headlining spot at the National Association for Campus Activities (NACA) annual convention where he will perform for talent bookers from across the country. He will also headline the regional semi-finalist showcases for the 2019 StandUp NBC competition.

April 12 marks the release of Acoustic Space, the first full-length installment in The Invisible Light trilogy helmed by Grammy- and Oscar-winning producer T Bone Burnett in collaboration with Jay Bellerose and Keefus Ciancia. The albums explore the idea that society has been subject to over a century of electronic programming, a “programming pandemic,” which is causing us to lose our ability to differentiate fact from fiction. Jim Cartwright's multi-award winning The Rise and Fall of Little Voice is coming back to Sydney and the cast and crew recently threw open the doors to the rehearsal room for an exclusive look at the brand new production ahead of its premiere on 5 February.

The song also touches on the lengths people go to for status and power. There's the realization that these qualities don't actually equal happiness. Thus, 'the king of the culture is never really free…'”
