The Wooster Group's Spring Benefit Will Be Held April 2 At The Performing Garage

The Wooster Group will hold a spring benefit on Tuesday, April 2 at the company's home, The Performing Garage (33 Wooster Street). The event will be hosted by Sam Gold, with Frances McDormand and Joel Coen, Cindy Sherman, and Maura Tierney, and will feature a musical performance by Suzzy Roche, Lucy Wainwright Roche, and Loudon Wainwright III.

The Joyce Presents HUBBARD STREET DANCE CHICAGO

The Joyce Theater Foundation (Linda Shelton, Executive Director) is pleased to announce the return of Hubbard Street Dance Chicago (HSDC), from March 6-17 at The Joyce Theater. The company makes its first return to The Joyce since 2015, and each week of this extended engagement is dedicated to works by in-demand choreographers Ohad Naharin and Crystal Pite respectively.

Urban Stages (Frances Hill, Founding Artistic Director), will close its 35th season with the World Premiere of Will Snider's DEATH OF A DRIVER directed by Kim T. Sharp.  This limited engagement at Urban Stages (259 West 30th Street) begins performances on Friday, March 1st, opens on Monday, March 4th and will run through Sunday, March 24, 2019.  Tickets for the show are $40 ($25 during previews; $50 on opening and $15 student rush) and may be purchased via OvationTix at www.urbanstages.org or by phone at 1.866.811.4111.

Tribeca Film Festival 2019 Announces Feature Film Lineup

The 2019 Tribeca Film Festival, presented by AT&T, today unveiled its feature film lineup. Continuing its tradition of elevating exceptional storytelling rooted in today's global film communities, the 18th annual Festival will showcase debut works from emerging talent and new works from notable filmmakers. The program includes discoveries, comedies, music-centered, political and social films. The 2019 Tribeca Film Festival takes place April 24 - May 5.

Mean Girls, Big Little Lies, Heathers, Broad City, Thelma and Louise, Parks and Recreation, Sex and the City…These are some of the better known vehicles for female friendship that inhabit our pop culture universe. Paling in comparison to the numerous portrayals of male friendships and "bromances", too often these relationships center on competition or jealousy, on getting the guy. Very few take a deeper, more comprehensive dive into the complexity of female companionship. Even fewer are the product of female authors, directors, playwrights, etc.

The CM Performing Arts Center has just entered the middle of their run of the ABBA Smash Hit Musical - MAMMA MIA! Signature Theatre has announced the full cast and creative team for Grand Hotel, the Musical directed by Signature Theatre Artistic Director Eric Schaeffer (Broadway's Gigi, Follies, and Signature's Titanic) and choreographed by Kelly Crandall D'Amboise (Signature's Light Years). Set in 1928 Berlin, a series of eclectic guests and staff including a fading ballerina, a destitute baron, a wannabe-starlet typist and an ailing bookkeeper collide at the bustling Grand Hotel. Grand Hotel the Musical will run from April 2, 2019 - May 19, 2019 in Signature Theatre's intimate MAX Theatre.

The Argenta Community Theater cast of Newsies may not be the King's of New York, but they are most definitely the King's of North Little Rock. Argenta never fails putting on a fantastic show. Led by Director Vincent Insalaco, and produced by Judy Tenenbaum, the casting was superb, the set was envious, and the choreography was top notch--and looked like so much fun!

Premiere Stages At Kean University Announces 2019 Premiere Play Festival Finalists

Premiere Stages, the professional theatre company in residence at Kean University, has selected its four finalists for the 2019 Premiere Play Festival. Now in its 15th year, the Festival is an annual competition for unproduced scripts that offers developmental opportunities to playwrights with strong affiliations to New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Pennsylvania and Delaware. This year's finalists were selected from a record 659 submissions, a 15% increase from the previous record set in 2018.
