The goal of the Contemporary American Theater Festival (CATF) at Shepherd University is to create dialogue. In addition to five fresh, new American plays, the 2009 Festival will include visual arts exhibitions from Jodi Patterson and Alison Helm.

The Contemporary American Theater Festival (CATF) at Shepherd University will run from July 8 through August 2, with five powerful plays and humanities events that create dialogue within the community. This year, their popular lecture series will feature special guests discussing issues raised by the plays.

Tony Award-winning playwright Richard Greenberg's Our Mother's Brief Affair will receive its World Premiere at South Coast Repertory as part of the theater's 12th annual Pacific Playwrights Festival. Commissioned by SCR and directed by Pam MacKinnon, Our Mother's Brief Affair will run April 3 through May 3, 2009 on the Segerstrom Stage. Low-priced previews are available from April 3 through April 9.
Presented by Shstrng Producions, the 2nd Annual One-Minute Play Festival features 90 plays, 40 actors and nine directors. Each play will be one minute in length. Curated by Dominic D'Andrea, the festival displays the talents of over forty emerging American playwrights and will be mounted at Barrow Group Arts Center in New York on Saturday October 25th at 8PM and Sunday, October 26th at 2PM and 8PM. The 2008 One-Minute Play Directors include Carlos Armesto, Dylan McCullough, Kim Weild, Claire Lundberg, Dominic D'Andrea, Lou Moreno, Shelley Butler, Jacob Krueger, & Michael Gardner.

Two groundbreaking new works directed by leading theater artists will take the stage at American Conservatory Theater's First Look New Plays Festival, running April 11 through April 26 at Zeum Theater. The plays include The Road Weeps, The Well Runs Dry, a deeply poetic new play by Marcus Gardley, and the newest version of Lillian Groag's theatrical adaptation of renowned poet Christopher Logue's War Music, a contemporary retelling of Homer's Iliad. Each play will receive two script-in-hand workshop performances following an intense week of work by the many artists engaged.
Williamstown Theatre Festival has announced that the winner of the 2006 Weissberger Playwrighting Award is Etan Frankel, for his script Truth and Reconciliation
