The Public Theater announced the 2015 Spring Public Forum season, featuring an exciting line-up of one-night-only readings and discussions that connect dramatic literature to society. Continuing its fifth year, the popular Public Forum series presents the theater of ideas: conversations and performances with leading voices in politics, media, and the arts.

Texas State University's Department of Theatre and Dance is presenting A Streetcar Named Desire, runing February 17-22, 2015.

Ralph Watson, Nick Waring and Patience Tomlinson lead the cast of the The Heart of Things by Giles Cole, which premieres at Jermyn Street Theatre this Spring. Giles is joined by director Knight Mantell, to reform the team that created the hugely acclaimed The Art of Concealment about the life of Terence Rattigan, which was staged at the same theatre in 2012. With impeccable timing, as the 2015 election campaign goes into overdrive and the political parties are once again at each other's throats, Close Quarter Productions presents this poignant and gripping family drama set against the background of the 2010 general election. The production runs from March 10 to April 4 as part of the theatre's twenty-first anniversary year.

2929 Productions and Emily Ziff and Sara Murphy of Cooper's Town Productions announced today that Amanda Seyfried (Les Miserables, Ted 2) and Theo James (The Divergent Series: Insurgent) are set to star in the supernatural thriller BLACK LUNG.

Second Stage Theatre (Carole Rothman, Artistic Director) has just announced that film star Amanda Seyfried (Les Miserables, Dear John, Mamma Mia!, upcoming Ted 2 and Pan) will make her off- Broadway debut opposite Thomas Sadoski (The Newsroom, Wild, upcoming in NBC's The Slap) in the upcoming world premiere production of NEIL LaBUTE's drama, THE WAY WE GET BY. Today in 1931, Broadway veteran James Earl Jones was born. He has won Tony awards in 1969 for The Great White Hope and in 1987 for Fences. He has acted in many Shakespearean roles: Othello, King Lear, Oberon in A Midsummer Night's Dream, Abhorson in Measure for Measure, and Claudius in Hamlet. On April 7, 2005, James Earl Jones and Leslie Uggams headed the cast in an African-American Broadway revival version of On Golden Pond, directed by Leonard Foglia and produced by Jeffrey Finn. In February 2008, he starred on Broadway as Big Daddy in a limited-run, all-African-American production of Tennessee Williams's Pulitzer Prize-winning drama Cat on a Hot Tin Roof, directed by Debbie Allen and mounted at the Broadhurst Theatre. In October 2010, Jones returned to the Broadway stage in Alfred Uhry's Driving Miss Daisy along with Vanessa Redgrave at the Golden Theatre. In November 2011, Jones starred in Driving Miss Daisy in London's West End, and on November 12 Jones received his honorary Oscar in front of the audience at the Wyndham's Theatre, which was presented to him by Ben Kingsley.

Broadway continues its 2014-2015 season momentum. In addition to the 17 shows that have already opened this season -- joining the 18 long-running shows currently playing on the boards -- to date, 19 more shows have announced opening dates this spring with more expected to announce.

Broadway fans had plenty of reasons to celebrate this year, with dozens of shows having opened since January, hundreds of actors having made their debuts, and many more having returned to the stage for critically acclaimed performances. Not all news was good though, as we also suffered a loss of an incredible amount of talent. Below, BroadwayWorld sends a fond farewell to those who passed away in 2014.
