Australians in Film announced an exciting lineup of presenters set to take the stage at the organization's 7th Annual Awards Gala, which will take place at Paramount Pictures Studio, on October 24th at 6pm. This year's roster includes social activist and Vanity Fair contributing editor Monica Lewinsky, actress and producer Amy Adams, producer, director and writer Simon Kinberg and industry executive, Debra Richards.

Studio Theatre's Board of Trustees today announces that Rebecca Ende Lichtenberg will join the organization as Managing Director beginning in December 2018. She joins Studio, long regarded as one of Washington, DC's most daring presenters of new and contemporary theatre, in its 40th anniversary season. She comes to Studio from Theater J, the nation's most prominent Jewish theatre and a cultural touchstone in Washington, DC, where she served as Managing Director and, earlier, Director of Marketing and Communications. She was selected after a rigorous nationwide search conducted by Managing Consultants for the Arts.

I was only in three shows in high school, and yet they were the best seasons of my life. We had three shows a year, but I usually just auditioned for one. I didn't really consider theatre a viable option in college, I thought it would be too much of a time commitment and would not fit into my major. I was excited to pursue my other interests.

The Board of Directors of the Caribbean Cultural Center African Diaspora Institute are excited to usher in a new chapter in the organization's evolution, with the unanimous appointment of Melody Capote as Executive Director. For over thirty of the forty-two years CCCADI has been in existence, Ms. Capote has worked alongside founder Dr. Marta Moreno Vega, first as a development associate and later as deputy director. She has been instrumental in developing CCCADI into one of the world's most vital institutions for the preservation of African Diaspora culture, positioned within a lens of social justice. Ms. Capote's experience and commitment to CCCADI makes her a uniquely qualified candidate for the position of executive director. We are thrilled to welcome her into this position.

ASCAP, The American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers, the world leader in performing rights and advocacy for music creators, is convening a roster of top female songwriters, producers, artists and engineers for its first “She Is The Music” Song Camp, including the Grammy-winning, Oscar-nominated Mary J. St. Bartholomew's Church, the historic Episcopal parish on Park Avenue in New York City, this fall celebrates the 100th anniversary of the first service in its current location. The magnificent 1918 Romanesque-style church features a portal designed by Stanford White and a grand Byzantine-style interior – and two of New York's unlikely but outstanding concert spaces: the 150-seat chapel, an intimate and acoustically brilliant space that is perfectly suited for contemporary chamber music, and the majestic 1,000-seat sanctuary, whose Aeolian-Skinner pipe organ is the largest in New York City and one of the finest examples of the American Classic Organ in the U.S.

The Apollo Theater announced today that Grammy nominated singer/songwriter Alice Smith will headline the Apollo's WOW – Women of the World Festival. The performance, featuring new music from her upcoming Full LP Mystery set to release at the end of 2018, is a part of the 3rd annual gathering of artists, activists, and leaders from around the globe at the Apollo Theater beginning March 12 and running through March 17, 2019.  Smith will bring her intoxicating mix of R&B, pop and rock along with a special musical tribute to the world famous Apollo Theater stage on Friday, March 15, 2019 at 8pm.

BroadwayHD today announced that it will capture the electrifying musical A Night with Janis Joplin live during one of its final performances on October 4 at La Mirada Theatre for The Performing Arts in Los Angeles. The company's groundbreaking live-capture of the performance will coincide with the anniversary of the rock icon's untimely death 48 years ago and debut in January 2019 to usher in the 50th anniversary celebration for Woodstock and her epic performance at the legendary concert. Managing Director Dean R. Gladden announced today that Brandon Kahn has been appointed as General Manager of the Alley Theatre. A native Houstonian, Brandon joins the Alley from Williamstown Theatre Festival where he served over six seasons as Resident Production Stage Manager, Associate Line Producer, and most recently as the Producing Manager. Brandon will assume his General Manager duties October 22.

I wanted to come to Live Theatre because they do things differently. Paul Sirett's play is a great example. Part socio-political commentary, part Gothic thriller, part musical celebration, all the seemingly conflicting elements coalesce and create a whole.
