Fences, August Wilson's powerful story of a fractured African-American family in 1950s Pittsburgh, will play its final show on February 21.

The Huntington Theatre Company continues its 28th season - a season of American stories - with Stick Fly, Huntington Playwriting Fellow Lydia R Diamond's smart, moving, and funny portrait of a complex African-American family.

STICKFLY will close on February 7 at Arena Stage.

The party starts on January 29 at The Cleveland Play House with Ain't Misbehavin', a Tony Award-winning celebration of the music of Thomas 'Fats' Waller.

Two-time Academy Award-winner Denzel Washington, who is set to appear in August Wilson's FENCES this spring, expressed some lingering regret in turning down the Brad Pitt role in the 1995 thriller SEVEN. Washington told Entertainment Weekly, 'The only film that was sort of dark that I'd turned down was SEVEN. They offered me the Brad Pitt part, but I was like, 'This is so dark & evil.' Then when I saw the movie, I was like, 'Oh Shoot.'

Two-time Academy Award-winner Denzel Washington will star in the first Broadway revival of FENCES, the 1987 Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award-winning play by August Wilson. The production will also star Tony Award-winner and Academy Award-nominee Viola Davis. FENCES, directed by Kenny Leon, will open on Monday, April 26, 2010 at the Cort Theatre (138 West 48th Street). The strictly limited 14 week engagement will begin previews on April 14.

Kenny Leon (Radio Golf, Gem of the Ocean, A Raisin in the Sun), acclaimed director and Wilson's final collaborator before his death, returns to the Huntington to helm the production, which stars John Beasley (Two Trains Running, Jitney, 'Everwood').

The Suzi Bass Awards, Inc. announced nominations for the 2008-2009 Atlanta professional theatrical season this week to an enthusiastic crowd of patrons, Suzi Judges and theatre industry artists. Eclipsed runs August 31 - September 27, 2009, with Pay-What-You-Can performances on August 31 and September 1 at 8pm. (Note: these performances dates are changed since our original season announcement. No extension possible). Woolly Mammoth is located at 641 D Street, NW (7th & D).

In conjunction with Fences, the opening production in its 2009-2010 Season of American Stories, the Huntington Theatre Company partners with Roxbury Community College to present August Wilson's Legacy, a celebration of the Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award-winning playwright's work and a discussion with acclaimed Wilson director Kenny Leon and a diverse panel of local artists who will look ahead to the next generation.
