The Huntington Theatre Company opens its 28th season - a season of American stories - with August Wilson's Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award-winning Fences, the sixth chapter of his groundbreaking ten-play cycle about the 20th century African-American experience. Kenny Leon (Radio Golf, Gem of the Ocean, A Raisin in the Sun), acclaimed director and Wilson's final collaborator before his death, returns to the Huntington to helm the production, which stars John Beasley (Two Trains Running, Jitney, 'Everwood').

The 3rd Annual August Wilson Monologue Competition National Finals will be held Monday, April 27th at The August Wilson Theatre on Broadway. The competition will feature 9 competitors from the regional finals in Atlanta, Pittsburgh and New York performing monologues from August Wilson's Century Cycle and will award a $10,000 scholarship to the winner.

The soaring, lyrical works of August Wilson's monologues were given new life by the 16 students competing at the first ever NYC August Wilson Monologue Competition at Washington Irving High School on April 6, 2009.
Learning through an Expanded Arts Program, LeAp, presents the first ever NYC August Wilson Monologue Competition. Kenny Leon's True Colors Theatre Company is proud to announce its production of Miss Evers' Boys by David Feldshuh, directed by Kenny Leon, featuring Jasmine Guy, TC Carson and Eugene Lee. Swimming Upstream, a project incubated and coordinated through the Ashé Cultural Arts Center and V-Day with Eve Ensler, playwright of The Vagina Monologues will play at True Colors Theatre Company from November 5th through 16th at the 14th Street Playhouse. It will feature Jasmine Guy, Shirley Knight, Phylicia Rashad, Kerry Washington and the women of New Orleans.
Classic 70s funk infuses pioneering hip hop theater artist Will Power's fierce new coming-of-age tale, debuting October 24 at The Children's Theatre Company (CTC). FIVE FINGERS OF FUNK, created by Power in collaboration with composer Justin Ellington and director Derrick Sanders, runs through November 16 on the Cargill Stage as the first show in the ctc4teens season.
