Band Together NC, a Triangle-based organization that uses live music as a platform for social change, has announced the lineup for this year's Main Event concert on June 1 at Red Hat Amphitheater. The eight-piece soul band St. Paul & The Broken Bones will headline the show which will also include reggae greats- Toots and the Maytals and another artist to be announced soon. The event will benefit and celebrate the 2019 Band Together/Inter-Faith Food Shuttle partnership.
The Burlington Discover Jazz Festival announces the first round of headliners for the 36th annual event happening this May 31-June 9, 2019. St. Paul & The Broken Bones join forces with Tank & The Bangas on Thursday, June 6 at the Waterfront Tent. On Saturday, June 8, Toots & The Maytals welcome the return of reggae to the iconic Waterfront Tent events, with The Big Takeover and Sabayouma to open.
The Keegan Theatre continues its 22nd season with the announcement of the cast and creative team for the regional premiere of the musical HANDS ON A HARDBODY. Inspired by the true events of the acclaimed 1997 documentary of the same name, HANDS ON A HARDBODY features a catchy combination of blues, rhythm & blues, and country songs co-written by Amanda Green and Trey Anastasio of the band Phish. Keegan's production is co-directed by Elena Velasco and Mark A. Rhea with music direction by Jake Null and choreography by Elena Velasco. The show runs March 9 through April 6, 2019 at The Andrew Keegan Theatre in Washington, DC, with the press opening slated for Tuesday, March 12 at 8:00 p.m.
Wasatch Theatre Company (WTC) continues 21st season with a rollicking musical about 10 down-and-out Texans grabbing hold of their American Dream-in the form of a hardbody truck. Over the past three decades, composer/guitarist/vocalist Trey Anastasio has forged a multi-faceted career, winning acclaim in rock, classical, and theatrical circles. He is a founding member of Phish, one of today's most successful and innovative rock bands. Known for uncompromising musicianship and spectacular live performances, Phish released their 15th studio album, Big Boat, in October 2016 and finished the year with another sold-out four-night run at Madison Square Garden. Anastasio also tours regularly with the Trey Anastasio Band, which also released a new studio album, Paper Wheels, in October 2015.
