Victoria Theatre Association (VTA) presented its 2017-2018 Community Report at today's Annual Meeting, held in the Mathile Theatre at the Benjamin & Marian Schuster Performing Arts Center. The meeting celebrated a fiscal year-end report revealing an estimated $28.6 million economic impact on the Miami Valley region, the construction of the soon-to-open PNC Arts Annex, and acknowledged many of VTA's 2017-2018 Education & Engagement programs that touched more than 100,000 lives in our community. VTA's Annual Meeting also included an Ohio Business Profile commendation from Ohio Secretary of State John Husted's office as well a farewell to retiring President & CEO Ken Neufeld and welcomed his successor, Ty Sutton.

The Georgia Musicale Group (GMG), a nonprofit organization, will present a free concert at Spivey Hall, 2000 Clayton State Boulevard on Saturday, September 8, 2018 from 3 to 5:30 p.m. The concert will feature more than a dozen selections (piano solos, duo piano, clarinet and vocal) of Haydn, Beethoven, Schubert, Chopin, Rachmaninoff, Bernstein and much more.
As part of the Vancouver International Film Festival's VIFF Live! program, RZA, the award-winning musician, film director and leader of rap group Wu-Tang Clan, will live-score the Shaw Brothers' Kung Fu classic The 36th Chamber of Shaolin on October 9, 2018 at the Orpheum Theatre (601 Smithe Street). The film was a huge inspiration for the artist and his fellow Wu-Tang members, and prior to the show RZA will be at the Rio Theatre (1660 E. Broadway; 19+ only) to discuss his love of martial arts movies, as well as his creative process and experiences as a film director and composer.
