Regent's Park Open Air Theatre has announced full casting for Anton Chekhov's The Seagull, which begins rehearsals today, Monday 11 May. Celebrated as one of the most important plays of the nineteenth century, Regent's Park Open Air Theatre have commissioned a new version by Torben Betts to mark the 120th Anniversary of Chekhov's original play. The Seagull will run at the iconic theatre from 19 June - 11 July.

Regent's Park Open Air Theatre has announced full casting for Anton Chekhov's The Seagull, which begins rehearsals today, Monday 11 May. Simon Stephens is one of Britain's foremost playwrights whose work includes Motortown (Royal court), Harper Regan(Royal National Theatre) and Wonderland (Royal Court Theatre). Regent's Park Open Air Theatre has confirmed that J.M. Barrie's original stage play of Peter Pan will open its 2015 season (15 May - 14 June 2015). This will be followed by The Seagull (19 June - 11 July) and Seven Brides for Seven Brothers(16 July - 29 August). Following sell-out performances in 2011, Timothy Sheader's production of William Golding's Lord of the Flies will then return to the Open Air Theatre (3 - 12 September) to conclude the 2015 season, prior to a major UK tour.

Casting is announced today for a new version of Anton Chekhov's Uncle Vanya by multiple award-winning playwright Anya Reiss, premiering on Wednesday 8 October at St. James Theatre. Directed by Russell Bolam, Reiss' adaptation of Chekhov's masterpiece of modern theatre reignites the piece for a 21st century audience, revealing the universal difficulties of impossible love, longing and regret.

January 2010 - an earthquake in Haiti leaves a hundred thousand people dead and almost two million homeless. Meanwhile in a leafy north London suburb, six individuals sit down to avocado and prawns - 'so reassuringly 1970s' - followed by a monkfish stew. They admire their host's beautifully appointed kitchen, fret about their 'ambitious' mortgages, make holiday plans, compare mobile phone tariffs, connect with Facebook friends, and worry that they might after all just be ordinary - will history remember any of them, and if so, what for? A social event in which much is said but little communicated rapidly disintegrates as the wine flows and some hard truths are told.
