The Episcopal Actors' Guild will celebrate its 90th Anniversary tonight, October 6th with the presentation of 90 YEARS OF BROADWAY: EAG's Theatrical Journey, an original musical revue highlighting the organization's unique and important history. The benefit will take place at the Grand Ballroom of the New York Open Centerat 22 East 30th Street, NYC.

The Dramatists Guild Fund Receives 2013 Ellen Stewart Award

On Monday, July 30, 2013, The New York Innovative Theatre Awards (IT Awards), the organization dedicated to celebrating Off-Off-Broadway, announced the 2013 award recipients at the ninth Annual IT Awards Ceremony at Mason Hall at the Baruch Performing Arts Center in New York. The Dramatists Guild Fund was awarded the 2013 Ellen Stewart Award, presented to an individual or organization demonstrating a significant contribution to the Off-Off-Broadway community through service, support and leadership. Playwright Tina Howe presented the award to both Gretchen Cryer, President of the Dramatists Guild Fund, and Rachel Routh, Executive Director of the Dramatists Guild Fund.

Ten years ago, as a reaction to over-amplification of musicals, Scott Siegel had the crazy idea that there might be an audience for a concert of Broadway show tunes performed the way they used to be sung: without microphones. And Scott had the perfect place to try out his theory, the acoustically wonderful Town Hall on West 43rd St. With no money, but the support of a great many singers who wanted, literally, to be heard in a way that was no longer possible on Broadway, he launched the first Broadway Unplugged, boasting 'Sound Design by God.' Tony Award-winning playwright Rupert Holmes' stage adaptation of A Time to Kill, based on John Grisham's best-selling novel, begins previews on Broadway on Saturday, September 28, 2013, at the John Golden Theatre (252 West 45th Street). This new Broadway play holds the distinction of being the first-ever John Grisham property to be adapted for the stage. Ethan McSweeny directs. Sebastian Arcelus, Chike Johnson, Patrick Page, Tony Award winner Tonya Pinkins, Emmy Award winner Tom Skerritt, Fred Dalton Thompson, John Douglas Thompson, and Ashley Williams plus Jeffrey M. Bender, Dashiell Eaves, J.R. Horne, John Procaccino, Tijuana Ricks, and Lee Sellars will star. A Time to Kill is produced by Tony Award winner Daryl Roth and Eva Price. Opening night is set for Sunday, October 20, 2013. In anticipation of previews beginning tomorrow, the official art for the productions has been released - check it out below!
