BWW Reviews: Jazz Stars Jane Monheit & John Pizzarelli Thrill in OC Cabaret Concert

You know that saying that 'two is better than one?' Well it couldn't have been a more enjoyably appropriate description than the swingin'-est concert to hit Costa Mesa's Segerstrom Center for the Arts in some time: the double-bill of jazz powerhouses Jane Monheit and John Pizzarelli. The two talented stars--each accompanied by their own incredible traveling bands--played to an almost-packed house this past Friday, October 5 as the rousing season opener for the 2012-2013 Cabaret Series at the Center.

Last night, May 29, the John Pizzarelli Quartet and special guest Bucky Pizzarelli visited Cafe Carlyle, where they will play through June 8. Performances take place Tues-Fri at 8:45 p.m. & Saturday at 8:45 p.m. & 10:45 p.m. Cover Tues-Thurs: $90 per person ($50 bar seating; $135 premium seating); Cover Fri-Sat: $100 per person ($50 bar seating; $135 premium seating).

Bay Area Cabaret Presents Two Concerts by John Pizzarelli, 2/26

Bay Area Cabaret welcomes back renowned jazz guitarist/vocalist John Pizzarelli with two performances Sunday, February 26, 2012. At the 2:30pm show, Pizzarelli will be joined by his wife, Broadway actress Jessica Molaskey, to present their acclaimed Cafe Carlyle show When Worlds Collide, a portrait of their marriage. At 5pm, Pizzarelli and his quartet will present his award-winning Duke Ellington tribute Rockin' in Rhythm. The concerts take place in the historic Venetian Room of The Fairmont San Francisco (950 Mason Street) Sunday, February 26, 2012.
