Under the direction of Tony Award nominee Jeff Calhoun (Broadway's Newsies and Grey Gardens), Hines, who started performing at five years old, brings the history of American tap to life and pays tribute to his brother Gregory and the singers who inspired him, from Frank Sinatra to Lena Horne. A co-production with ALLIANCE THEATRE at the Woodruff and Cleveland Play House, Maurice Hines is Tappin' Thru Life runs tonight, November 15-December 29, 2013 in the Kreeger Theater.

Al Hirschfeld, whose legendary quill pen captured virtually every well-known performing artist of the 20th century, will be celebrated by Henri Bendel. Guests are invited to the opening of this 'Hirschfeld Spectacular,' where all will enjoy a first-of-its-kind installation. Henri Bendel has worked hand-in-hand with Hirschfeld's exclusive gallery, the Margo Feiden Galleries Ltd., New York, to create a truly unique presentation of the late illustrator's work.

Primary Stages held their annual Gala last night, November 11, at The Edison Ballroom (240 W. 47th Street). The event honored Tony Award-winning playwright Christopher Durang and President of the General Counsel at Dramatists Play Service, Stephen Sultan. The evening featured performances by Rachel deBenedet (Catch Me If You Can, Addams Family), Alan Paul (Grease, Oliver!, Manhattan Transfer), Michele Ragusa (Urinetown, Ragtime, A Class Act, Adrift in Macao), and Alton F. A theatrical phenomenon, a unique and gasp-inducing night of live entertainment, LA SOIREE opened last night at the Union Square Theatre (100 East 17th Street) for a limited engagement. Bringing the glamour and glitz of the velvet-draped vaudeville salons straight into the 21st century, LA SOIREE's seductive setting is complete with ringside seats, bar service and posh tables from where audiences will be treated to a heady cocktail of cabaret, new burlesque, circus sideshow and contemporary variety. To celebrate the publication of The Untold Stories of Broadway on November 12 by Dress Circle Publishing, Jennifer Ashley Tepper will be sharing three short excerpts about each of the Broadway theaters featured in the book-countdown style! First up: The Richard Rodgers Theatre!

City Theatre will present a brand new production of the smash comedy 2 Pianos 4 Hands, a melodic adventure featuring music ranging from Bach to Billy Joel and Elton John. Co-written by Ted Dykstra and Richard Greenblatt and directed by Tom Frey, 2 Pianos 4 Hands is a City Events special presentation that will run on City Theatre's Mainstage from November 30 to December 22, 2013, with an Opening Night performance on Friday, December 6 at 8pm.

On Saturday night, November 2, the Broadway community, family, and friends came together to celebrate the 50th birthday of the legendary Andrea McArdle. The birthday was a complete surprise to McArdle who was brought to the party by friend Tommy Tune under the impression that they were meeting Carol Channing for dessert! Scroll down for photos!
