You may not recognize her name, but if you know anything about rock and roll in the mid 1960s, you'll know her songs. Ellie Greenwich wrote or co-wrote many of the songs that became hit records for popular vocal groups produced by Phil Spector and his famous Wall of Sound technique and the legendary production team of Lieber and Stoller. Greenwich's rise from aspiring singer-songwriter and college student from Long Island to writing some of rock and roll's most iconic hits is portrayed in the musical Leader of the Pack, playing at Totem Pole Playhouse from August 20 through September 1.
Bringing artists from all over the world, and from most every genre, the Harris Center for the Arts at Folsom Lake College - formerly known as Three Stages at Folsom Lake College - will offer literally hundreds of performances in 2013-14. Beginning in late July, 2013 and extending into spring 2014, the new season includes world-class performers like Kenny Loggins, Seinfeld's Jason Alexander, and Savion Glover; Broadway productions such as Peter and the Starcatcher, The Addams Family and Bring It On: The Musical (all of which are appearing in the capital region for the first time ever); and an unprecedented season of dance in Folsom which kicks off with Alonzo King LINES Ballet and also features Complexions Contemporary Ballet, Bellydance Superstars, Ballroom with a Twist, and return visits of the popular Moscow Festival Ballet's Swan Lake and Diavolo Dance Theatre; and many more, all on the stages at the Harris Center.
This July, Tony Award-winner Brian Stokes Mitchell, Broadway, concert and recording artist Linda Eder, THE HIT MEN Featuring Members of Frankie Valli's The Four Seasons and The Town Hall's Broadway Rising Stars will each offer special performances as a part of Town Hall's Starry Summer Nights Concert Series.
THE RASCALS: ONCE UPON A DREAM, which opened last night on Broadway, is directed by Steven Van Zandt and Marc Brickman. With music byFelix Cavaliere and Eddie Brigati, The Rascals: Once Upon a Dream has stage, video and lighting design by Brickman and has music production and is written by legendary guitarist Van Zandt. Performances begin Monday, April 15th atBroadway's Richard Rodgers Theatre (226 West 46th Street), and will play through Sunday, May 5th. Opening night is set for Tuesday, April 16th.

The Carlyle, A Rosewood Hotel welcomes the Grammy Award-winning vocalist Debby Boone for her debut at the Cafe Carlyle with her new program 'Swing This'. Ms. Boone opened at the Cafe Carlyle last night and will play through March 30th, where she will be joined by her music director, John Oddo, and a nine piece band for what she has described as, 'The party I've been waiting my whole life to throw!'
