theatreWashington just announced the 29th Helen Hayes Awards nominees today, January 28th, 2013 in The National Theatre's Helen Hayes Gallery. This year, for the first time, theatre lovers in Washington and around the world were able to watch the nomination announcements live via webcast at theatrewashington.org, Facebook, or on the Livestream. War Horse, the 2011 Tony Award-winning Best Play and international sensation seen by more than 2 million people worldwide, will conclude its Broadway run today, January 6, 2013, at the Vivian Beaumont Theater as the longest-running, Tony Award-winning Best Play of the last decade. The National Theatre Announces New Management

The Trustees of the National Theatre Corporation (NTC), in Washington, D.C., are announcing that they have entered into an arrangement with Chicago-based JAM Theatricals, Ltd. and Philadelphia area-based SMG that will expand the presentations at the historic National Theatre to include an annual Broadway series, concerts, leading classical artists and other attractions. JAM and SMG are combining to provide booking, advertising, marketing and promotional services, venue management and operational support for the Theatre.

Beginning tonight, Thursday, January 12, 2012, Harlan Bengel, Lute Breuer, Hunter Canning, Anthony Cochrane, Andrew Durand, Ben Horner, Leah Hofmann, Tessa Klein, David Lansbury, David Manis, Nat McIntyre, Geoffrey Murphy, Andy Murray, Tommy Schrider, Jack Spann and Katrina Yaukey join the 37 member acting company of the Tony Award winning production of WAR HORSE. The National Theatre of Great Britain's production, presented by Lincoln Center Theater and the National Theatre of Great Britain in association with Bob Boyett, continues its open ended run at the Vivian Beaumont Theater (150 West 65 Street).

2011 NY Innovative Theatre Awards Honor Robert Patrick et al.' Winners Announced!

On Monday September 19, 2011, the IT Awards (New York Innovative Theatre Awards), the organization dedicated to celebrating Off-Off-Broadway, and host comedian Harrison Greenbaum, announced the 2011 recipients at the Seventh Annual IT Awards Ceremony at Cooper Union.
This year's nominees represent 169 individual artists, 55 productions and 45 theatre companies. In 2011, the IT Awards had the most individual nominees than in any previous season with 169 nominees.

BroadwayWorld has confirmed that WAR HORSE, which just opened at the Vivian Beaumont Theatre last week, is gearing up for a national tour, as well as a separate sit-down Toronto production. While details on the tour have not yet been announced, the show will play Los Angeles' Ahmanson Theatre from June 13 - July 22, 2012. The Toronto production is set to open in February of 2012.

Yesterday the horse puppets from 'War Horse' opened Lincoln Center's Illumination Lawn
for the summer season. The horse puppets dazzled onlookers on the Lawn, which is a double-twisted green space that forms the roof of one of Lincoln Center's newest buildings.
