FEINSTEIN'S AT LOEWS REGENCY continues its Summer 2012 season with the return of MAC, Bistro, and Nightlife Award winning vocalist, Karen Oberlin from July 24 to 28. BroadwayWorld was there for the first concert and we bring you photos below!

Her new show "I'll Be Hard to Handle: Songs of Daring Dames" is an adventurous evening that explores feminine courage in all its forms: songs by bold women writers, songs about dauntless women, and songs written on audacious subjects showing just how brave and brazen women can be. Songwriters include the inimitable Bessie Smith and her peers, Joni Mitchell, Dorothy Fields, Rodgers & Hart, Pink, and many more. Jon Weber serves as Music Director. The show will run for one week only, through July 28, at the Loews Regency Hotel (540 Park Avenue at 61st Street).

Karen Oberlin, hailed as one of the premier interpreters of the Great American Songbook, recently received rave reviews for her three-week engagement at the Oak Room at the Algonquin Hotel in New York. Stephen Holden in The New York Times said "Beyond having a pretty voice, poise and interpretive insight... Ms. Oberlin has impeccable classic pop style (and) musical intelligence." Rex Reed in the New York Observer, called her recent performance "thrilling," and continued, "Oberlin is as lovely to look at as she is to hear -- subtle, elegant and musically spot on. She's a keeper!" Along with the Algonquin, she has appeared at major New York venues such as Jazz at Lincoln Center, Town Hall, Iridium Jazz Club, Merkin Hall and The Metropolitan Room, among others. She entertained sold-out audiences at the Oak Room to launch the release of her highly lauded debut CD, My Standards (Miranda Music) and Secret Love: The Music of Doris Day (Miranda Music).

Ms. Oberlin appeared in more than 100 Off-Broadway performances of the smash-hit show Our Sinatra, and has performed her own shows nationally and abroad. She had the honor of being part of the first-ever Cabaret Conventions in both Philadelphia and the Hamptons and has performed in the New York shows at both Jazz at Lincoln Center and at Town Hall, where she was also featured in the "Broadway By The Year" series at Town Hall. Along with playing Maureen in the first staged incarnation of the now-legendary Broadway show, Rent, Ms. Oberlin has also held lead roles at such theatres as the North Carolina Theatre and the Palace Theatre in Louisville, among others. She has appeared as a professional actress in everything from Shakespeare to national commercials, including playing a recurring nurse on "All My Children" and can been seen in both independent and feature films. She also enjoyed being part of a professional a cappella group called "Where's The Band?" for many years.

FEINSTEIN'S AT LOEWS REGENCY will present Karen Oberlin through Saturday, July 28 at 8:00 PM. All shows have a $30.00 cover with $50.00 premium seats. In addition, there is a $25.00 food and beverage minimum. Jackets are suggested but not required. The club is located at 540 Park Avenue at 61st Street in New York City.
