Shakespeare Orange County to Present RICHARD III, 7/19-8/4

Shakespeare Orange County will open their twenty first season with the presentation of RICHARD III. The production runs July 19-August 4 at Garden Grove's open air Festival Amphitheatre ---outside and 'Under the Stars.' Returning to the Festival this season are John Walcutt as Richard, Evelyn Carol Case as Queen Elizabeth, and Amanda Zarr as Lady Anne. Veteran company member Carl Reggiardo directs this production.
Pixar's BRAVE Tops Weekend Box Office

Disney Pixar's BRAVE debuted at number one at the US box office this weekend. The animated full lenghth film features the voice talents of Emma Thompson, Kelly Macdonald, Billy Connelly and Craig Ferguson.
ROCK OF AGES Brings In $8 Million in Second Weekend

Adam Shankman's ROCK OF AGES, which opened last weekend, brought in an additional $8 million in its second weekend, according to Boxofficemojo. As Broadwayworld previously reported, the musical earned $14.4 million in its opening weekend, and a total of $28,763,000. The movie took fifth place (behind Brave, Madagascar 3, Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter and Prometheus), having the sixth-highest opening ever for a musical.

The stars of the upcoming revival of JEKYLL & HYDE, Tony Award nominee Constantine Maroulis (Rock of Ages) and Grammy Award Nominee Deborah Cox (Aida), will host the 4th annual National High School Musical Theater Awards tonight, June 25th at 7:30pm at Broadway's Minskoff Theatre (200 W 45th St). The show will feature 60 of America's most talented young musical theater performers vying for the "Jimmy Award" for Best Performance by an Actress and Best Performance by an Actor. Winners will be awarded college scholarships and other prizes will be announced live.

The music that ignited a generation and heats up Broadway every night in ROCK OF AGES is coming to Las Vegas, according to the show's official website. The Venetian Hotel & Casino, which recently opened their own 'Bourbon Room' (the setting of the musical), will host the show beginning in December 2012.
