Focus Features is set to partner with writer/director Paul Thomas Anderson on his untitled new film.  Anderson and Focus Features collaborated on his last feature Phantom Thread, which garnered 6 Academy Award® nominations including Best Picture, Director for Anderson, Actor for Daniel Day-Lewis, Supporting Actress for Lesley Manville, Score for Jonny Greenwood and Costume Design for Mark Bridges, which he went on to win.  Longtime collaborators JoAnne Sellar and Daniel Lupi will produce this new project along with Anderson.

Queer|Art, New York City's home for the creative and professional development of LGBTQ+ artists, is pleased to announce a special Fall season of Queer|Art|Film at IFC Center (323 Sixth Avenue at West 3rd St.), September 16-December 2. Organized by guest curators Vivian Crockett, Camilo Godoy, and Carlos Mottaa?"the season, titled Chicas y Fantasmas, explores the shells we inhabit to move through the world. Presented by four contemporary Latinx artists, the season assembles a fierce ensemble of showgirls, cyborgs, glam rockers, and two Chicana teens who defy gendered expectations, ableist norms, and society's limitations to actualize their own self-constructed identities and shape a vision of the world in which they want to live. Deadline reports that Todd Haynes' latest feature film will get a limited release this fall, right before Thanksgiving. 

Tony nominee Lauren Ridloff is set to be Marvel's first deaf superhero!

Amazon Studios started principal photography on visionary director Mike Cahill's (I Origins, Another Earth) Bliss this week in Los Angeles and Croatia. Academy Award nominees Salma Hayek and Owen Wilson are set to star in this sci-fi drama also written by Cahill. Endgame Entertainment's James D. Stern is producing, with the company's Lucas Smith serving as executive producer. Marsha Swinton (Hala) will also executive produce.

Netflix has ordered a holiday-themed comedy series starring Dennis Quaid. In Merry Happy Whatever, Dennis Quaid plays Don Quinn, a strong-willed patriarch who must balance the demands of his complicated family with the stress of the Christmas season when his youngest daughter comes home for the holidays with a new boyfriend.

The Public Theater announced initial casting today for the world premiere of WHITE NOISE, written by Public Theater Master Writer Chair and Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright Suzan-Lori Parks.

The 'Mimi' Awards are presented annually to honor the outstanding artistry and accomplishments of some of the most gifted American playwrights.
