A.C.T.'s Young Conservatory to present HOMEFRONT

This August, American Conservatory Theater's Young Conservatory (YC) will present Homefront, a passionate and powerful musical that tells the story of remarkable young people courageously struggling to come of age in a world rocked by conflict. Emma Kolmeier and her two young siblings flee from Germany to escape World War I, leaving everything they know far behind. The family settles in southern Illinois, where they make new friends-but also begin to confront harsh persecution as America enters the war against Germany. As they experience the first twinges of romance and dream of the future, their lives are transformed in astonishing ways, forever redefining their understanding of home. Homefront was the first commissioned musical for the Young Conservatory and received its world premiere in June 2011.

42nd Street Moon Kicks Off 2016-17 Season With Sherlock Holmes Musical

42nd Street Moon will launch its 24th season with the West Coast premiere of the newly revised 1965 musical Baker Street. This mysterious and enchanting trip to the world of Sherlock Holmes plays November 5-20 at the Eureka Theatre in San Francisco with previews November 2-4. Baker Street also marks the inaugural production under the new leadership of Executive Directors Daren A.C. Carollo and Daniel Thomas, following the retirement of Founding Artistic Director Gregory MacKellan. A.C.T.'s Young Conservatory to Host Summer Festival

American Conservatory Theater (A.C.T.) Young Conservatory Director Craig Slaight announced today the shows that will comprise the summer Young Conservatory (YC) Festival. Productions include the world premiere of Top of the Pyramid, a collaboration among A.C.T.'s Young Conservatory, A.C.T.'s Education & Community Programs, and Oakland's Destiny Arts Center, and Fields of Gold: The Music of Sting, a celebration of the music of singer-songwriter Sting. Top of the Pyramid will perform July 26-30, 2016, in The Rueff at A.C.T.'s Strand Theater (1127 Market Street, San Francisco) and August 5-7, 2016 at Destiny Arts Center (970 Grace Ave, Oakland). Fields of Gold: The Music of Sting will perform at A.C.T.'s Strand Theater from August 16-27, 2016. Tickets for Top of the Pyramid are $20. Tickets for Fields of Gold: The Music of Sting are $30. Program, as well as a coproduction featuring students from A.C.T.'s Young Conservatory (YC) Program. The three works in repertory this May are Stephen Adly Guirgis' scorching comedy, Our Lady of 121st Street; Georges Feydeau's madcap farce The Girl from Maxim's; and Rob Ackerman's hilarious and heartbreaking Teach for America.
