This production of Madama Butterfly highlights the social decline and impoverishment that occur in Cio-cio-san's life, to give visibility to the sociocultural aspects that cause the protagonist's growing suffering and the tragic outcome of the story, as well as the machismo she suffers of both cultures – Japanese and American.
