Evita begins Sept. 9 and runs through Oct. 2, at KC Rep's mainstage Spencer Theatre, located on the UMKC campus. KC Rep, Kansas City's premiere equity theater, has a reputation for energizing classic musicals with fresh infusions of perspective and creativity. 'This production is about framing the conversation during this election year about who we are and what are we becoming,' says Rosen. 'Evita is about a woman who came from nowhere and through her political will and genius, brought about revolution still being felt today. This production could not be more timely as we watch American politics being redefined in historic measure.'

All things ghoulish, macabre, ghastly, and a little bit frightening are alive and well living within the walls of the Addams Family home. The only place to see this outrageous musical comedy is at the New Theatre in Overland Park. Richard Carrothers directs The Addams Family a New Musical running through September 20 at the dinner theater. Daniel Doss provides musical direction and Katelin Zelon the choreography for the delightful yet maybe a little bizarre musical.
"That song alone is worth the price of a ticket." That comment was made by an audience member after Daniel Beeman and the cast of Musical Monday performed "Bohemian Rhapsody" at the close of Act I for Musical Monday and Tuesday. Musical Monday closes with the cast singing "One Day More," which is the amount of time left to catch one of the most phenomenal shows to appear at Musical Theater Heritage at Crown Center. Musical Monday and Tuesday opened on April 20 with Jerry Jay Cranford singing Les Miz from Forbidden Broadway. The theme of the two-day musical event is Les Miserables and Others. Others included tunes from Chorus Line and Little Shop of Horrors.
The rock musical Hair has been produced many times over the years in Kansas City, but never has it been presented the way the Kansas City Repertory Theatre brought it to the Spencer Theatre on opening night March 27. Artistic Director Eric Rosen directs Hair: Retrospective, which runs through April 12 at the theater on the University of Missouri at Kansas City campus. The retrospective may actually be more enjoyable than the musical itself, (not just my opinion, heard from audience members also).
