West End's JERSEY BOYS to Extend Booking Period

JERSEY BOYS, the smash hit musical, is extending its booking period at the Piccadilly Theatre until 23 October 2016, with tickets on sale now. JERSEY BOYS stars Michael Watson as Frankie Valli, Edd Post as Bob Gaudio, Jon Boydon as Tommy DeVito and Gary Watson as Nick Massi. Sandy Moffat plays the role of Frankie Valli at certain performances. Also in the cast are Simon Adkins, Nicola Brazil, Matthew Cutts, Stuart Dawes, Lucinda Gill, Thomas Goodridge, Nicky Griffiths, Matthew Hunt, Mark Isherwood, Charlotte Jeffery, Ben Jennings, Joseph Peters, Chris Stoddart, Helen Ternent, Matt Thorpe and Ben Wheeler.

Now in its fourth year in the West End, Nick Stafford's adaptation of Michael Morpurgo's book has been playing to sell-out houses at the New London Theatre since March 2009. The Broadway production of War Horse, which continues its run at the Lincoln Center's Vivien Beaumont Theatre, was the winner of six Tony Awards including a Special Tony Award for Handspring Puppet Company. In February of this year War Horse opened to great critical acclaim at The Princess of Wales Theatre, Toronto. War Horse premiered at The National Theatre in October 2007.

The National Theatre's award-winning production of War Horse is currently playing the New London Theatre, and will egin a full UK tour in Fall 2013, according to The Stage. While official tour dates and venues have not yet been confirmed, executive director Nick Starr revealed that in addition to the West End, Broaway, and upcoming Toronto production, there are also plans to open in Australia, Japan, and South Africa.

Whoopi Goldberg will rejoin the cast of the hit musical comedy SISTER ACT in October to complete her run as Mother Superior. She will perform the role on the evening of Friday 22 October, at two shows on Saturday 23 October and at two shows on Monday 25 October. Whoopi's previous run, her West End debut, was a huge critical success and saw fans camping overnight at the box office and daily queues around the block at the London Palladium for tickets. During Whoopi's run Sister Act also broke the record for the highest weekly gross of any musical ever at the Palladium. She was unable to complete that run, which was to end on August 31, when she had to return to the USA due to a family emergency.
