Austin Pendleton to Direct LUNA GALE at Cleveland Play House

Cleveland Play House's (CPH) monumental 100th Season continues with the regional premiere of LUNA GALE. CPH welcomes back film and stage legend Austin Pendleton to direct this contemporary drama that begs the question 'To whom do you belong?' Written by Rebecca Gilman, recipient of the 2015 Roe Green Award, LUNA GALE runs February 27 - March 20 in the intimate Allen Theatre.

Neil Jenney's 'Improved Picassos' to Open 2/14 at West Broadway Gallery

The West Broadway Gallery will present an exhibition of Neil Jenney's 'Improved Picassos' from February 14-April 30, 2016. This exhibition will extend the survey of 'Improved Picassos' first seen at Gagosian Gallery on Madison Avenue in 2013 and will include two of the paintings in that exhibition. This is the first time that all of the eight paintings in the series will be exhibited together.

NYFOS Next Festival of New Songs Launches Today

New York Festival of Song's contemporary song series NYFOS Next -- dubbed 'invaluable' by The New Yorker and The New York Times -- enters its sixth season and continues its new format: a three-concert February mini-festival in the intimate state-of-the-art recital hall at OPERA America's National Opera Center. The Thursday concerts take place today, February 4, as well as February 11, and 18, 2016 at 7:00 p.m.

Nottage's LAS MENINAS Opens 2/19 At Troutt Theatre

Jaclynn Jutting directs Belmont University's Department of Theatre and Dance's spring semester-opening production of Lynn Nottage's Las Meninas, a play they contend will 'grab the attention of any audience member, of any background, opening February 19 at Belmont's Troutt Theatre.

THE STINKY CHEESE MAN to Open Chance Theater's TYA Season

Anaheim's official resident theater company, Chance Theater is delighted to present the irreverent and uproariously silly The Stinky Cheese Man and other fairly stupid tales as the first production of its 2016 Theater for Young Audiences season. Performances will begin February 25 and continue through March 6 on the Fyda-Mar Stage at Chance Theater @ Bette Aitken theater arts Center. Based on the award-winning book of the same title by Jon Scieszka and illustrated by Lane Smith, the show has been adapted by John Glore and is directed by Darryl B. Hovis.

BWW Review: Bleak WAITING FOR LEFTY from Theatre9/12

Clifford Odets built a career off of writing dramas that dealt with class inequality and social injustice in the depression era. His first ever produced play, "Waiting for Lefty", certainly falls into that category. And while the current production from Theatre9/12 does manage some stirring performances, they can't escape the bleak nature of the play itself as Odets drives home over and over the inescapable nature of the era.

On Jan 26th, Myriam Phiro will guide us through the decadent world of Edith Piaf using her timeless songs to retell the life of this iconic performer. After successful performances of her debut cabaret show at 54 Below, the Metropolitan Room and Drom, Ms. Phiro, accompanied by a traditional musette band and multi-disciplinary backup singers, will recreate the brothels, circuses and nightclubs that created the great Piaf we all know, this time at the Iridium.

Theatre9/12 to Present WAITING FOR LEFTY

The actors of Theatre9/12 present one of the most important plays of the 20th century: Clifford Odets' Waiting for Lefty first presented by the famous Group Theatre.  Set in the Great Depression and addressing the exploitation of the working classes, the play centers around the 1934 Taxi strike in New York City.
