Primary Stages has announced that the world premiere of While I Yet Live will begin performances on Wednesday, September 24 at 7PM. Producers have decided to delay the start of previews due to technical issues.

Alley Theatre Artistic Director Gregory Boyd announces the cast and creative team for Dracula, the Original Vampire Play, the second production in the 'Alley Theatre @ UH' season. Theatre of NOTE continues its 2014 season with the West Coast premiere of BANSHEE,written by Brian C. Petti and directed by James R. Carey. BANSHEE will preview Friday, September 26 and Saturday, September 27, and will open on Friday, October 3 at 8pm and run through Saturday, November 1 at Theatre of NOTE, 1517 N. Cats may have nine lives, but 2nd Story's top dog, Sylvia, has two. AR Gurney's personable pooch is making a return visit to satisfy all the customers who were turned away during last spring's sold out run. The eight-performance rerun will be from September 4 - September 14. In early October, 2nd Story kicks off its GR8 Season -- eight great plays -- four UpStage and four Down.

Primary Stages in association with Jamie deRoy and Barry Feirstein, present the New York premiere of Poor Behavior, a new comedy by Theresa Rebeck (Seminar, Mauritius, The Understudy, creator of NBC's 'Smash'). Poor Behavior concludes its limited engagement this Sunday September 7 at Primary Stages at The Duke on 42nd Street - a NEW 42ND STREET project (229 West 42nd Street).

Everyman Theatre began rehearsals today for the 2014/15 season opener, The Understudy. Theresa Rebeck's comedic look into the backstage world of show biz runs through September 28th. The three-person cast features Everyman Resident Company Members Clinton Brandhagen,Danny Gavigan and Beth Hylton. Joseph W. Ritsch makes his Everyman directorial debut with the production. We come into life with a desire to do meaningful things, just as an understudy comes into the theater motivated to produce great thespian art. Yet if the understudy is our avatar, how discouraging is his example! For, as in Rebeck's play, the understudy's task is condemned to nearly certain futility. Particularly so on today's Broadway, where plays are too often packaged as vehicles for screen stars whom the audience pays a large premium to see, in productions with limited runs. The setup is almost guaranteed to incentivize producers to demand that the big screen stars appear at every performance, and to incentivize the stars to do so, affording no opportunity to the understudies.

The Lark Play Development Center named five New York City-based playwrights as Playwrights' Workshop Fellows for the 2014-15 season. The group spans a wide range of backgrounds and professional experiences and will meet regularly throughout the year to develop new plays.
