Moss & Kitty Carlisle Hart New Play Initiative Winners to Run In Rep At GTC Burbank

Two new character-driven relationship plays, both by award-winning women writers and both inspired by events currently at the forefront of our national consciousness, beat out 1241 other submissions in the inaugural Moss Hart & Kitty Carlisle Hart New Play Initiative. Hart NPI artistic director Christopher Hart will direct Silver Medallion-winning plays Confederates by Suzanne Bradbeer, opening Nov. 9, and Exit Wounds by Wendy Graf, opening Nov. 16, at Grove Theater Center in Burbank, where the two plays will continue to run in repertory through Dec. 16. One will be the named the Gold Medallion winner and open on March 13, 2019 for a six-week, off-Broadway run in the 196-seat "Theater A" at 59E59 Theaters in New York City.

Pratidhwani Presents An Unconventional Take Of I AND YOU By Lauren Gunderson

Pratidhwani - a Seattle area based organization for promoting South Asian performing arts and artists - will present I And You by Lauren Gunderson as a co-production with Theater Schmeater, running October 18th through November 3rd, 2018, performing at Theater Schmeater's home in Bell Town.

Aurora Theatre Company continues its dynamic 27th season with EVERYTHING IS ILLUMINATED, based on the best-selling, critically acclaimed novel by Jonathan Safran Foer. Tom Ross directs the West Coast premiere that features Adam Burch, Lura Dolas (Abigail's Party, The Glass Menagerie, The Persians), Jeremy Kahn (Dry Powder, Wittenberg), Marissa Keltie and Julian Lopez-Morillas (The Heir Apparent, The Homecoming). EVERYTHING IS ILLUMINATED runs November 9 - December 9 (Opens: November 15).

The Muse Project, in association with The Tank, will present Musings: a collection of Mini Muse presentations at The Flea Theater as a part of their Anchor Partnership. The Muse Project gives women performers the time, space, and opportunity to experiment with and explore their fantasy projects. Musings will showcase the exciting, fresh, paradigm-shifting storytelling that 5 of New York's leading stage actresses have developed through intensive workshops, called Mini Muses. The week will culminate in a party on October 19th, the 'Mini Gala' - a wine and cheese event to celebrate the week's presentations; and 'Tea Time,' a one-of-a-kind Muse pilot program, where a veteran stage actress discusses her experiences building her career. Actress Florencia Lozano is set to partake as the Tea Time guest.

The Old Globe Celebrates New Voices In The Community

The Old Globe announces its inaugural New Voices in the Community series: free public performances at libraries across San Diego County, followed by conversations with the playwrights and experts in the community. The first New Voices in the Community features three solo shows by women: Hold These Truths by Jeanne Sakata, "A" Train by Anne Torsiglieri, and Unveiled: A One-Woman Play by Rohina Malik.
