Goodman Theatre Partners With Black Lives, Black Words For I AM...FEST In 2019

Black Lives, Black Words International Project is proud to officially launch the 'I AM… Fest', in partnership with Goodman Theatre. This first of idts kind international festival, will shine a spotlight on the female voices from across the globe by placing them in the heart of Chicago's vibrant downtown Theatre District at the iconic Goodman Theatre-and culminates with a ten-minute play showcase, including the American premiere of 'The Interrogation of Sandra Bland,' a transcript of the Sandra Bland arrest, by Black British playwright Mojisola Adebayo, directed by Simeilia Hodge-Dallaway and performed by 100 Women of Color.

A CHRISTMAS CAROL Returns to Ford's Theatre This December

Ford's Theatre Director Paul R. Tetreault announced that acclaimed Washington actor Craig Wallace will return to Ford's to perform the role of Ebenezer Scrooge for the company's holiday production of A Christmas Carol. Performances of the classic Charles Dickens story begin November 15 and continue for a six-and-a-half-week engagement through December 30, 2018. This "musically high-spirited" and "infectiously jolly" (The Washington Post) production is adapted by Michael Wilson and directed by Michael Baron.

Ithaca's Kitchen Theatre Company is partnering with NYC's Daughters of Troy to produce a reading of Natural Shocks, a new play by Lauren Gunderson on April 21st at 4 pm. The show, based on Hamlet's 'To be or not to be,' follows a woman waiting out an imminent tornado in her basement, and grappling with the reality of gun violence. The reading at the Kitchen, directed by Aubrey Saverino and featuring Brooke M. Haney, is one of over 50 that are happening all over the country that weekend, the 19th anniversary of the Columbine attack. Tickets are a suggested donation and all proceeds will be donated to The Advocacy Center in Tompkins County.
