Cabrillo Music Theatre Stages FOREVER PLAID, Now thru 2/9

Those heavenly voices are back! And they're better than ever! Cabrillo Music Theatre celebrates its 20th Anniversary Season by blending one of the original Plaids with four of musical theatre's top talents to create the definitive FOREVER PLAID especially for the Thousand Oaks Civic Arts Plaza! The fresh and funny FOREVER PLAID opens today, January 31st, 2014, playing until Sunday, February 9th, at the 1,800-seat Kavli Theatre at the Thousand Oaks Civic Arts Plaza, located at 2100 Thousand Oaks Boulevard in Thousand Oaks.

TCG Reveals Third Round Global Connections Recipients

Theatre Communications Group (TCG), the national organization for theatre, has announced the Cycle A recipients for the third round of Global Connections. Supported by The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation, this grant program encourages reciprocity and cultural exchange throughout the world through ON the ROAD grants to foster new relationships with international colleagues and IN the LAB grants to further pre-existing international collaborations. Now in its third year, the Global Connections program awarded up to $5,000 to seven projects through ON the ROAD and $10,000 to three projects through IN the LAB.

PINKALICIOUS to Return to the Vital Theatre, 2/1-4/27

The award-winning Vital Theatre Company has announced that its long-running family hit PINKALICIOUS THE MUSICAL will return to the Vital Theatre on 76th Street for performances Saturdays and Sundays at 3:30 pm, February 1st through April 27th, 2014.

Terri Hanauer directs a rare revival of the celebrated Broadway drama that kick-started playwright/screenwriter John Bishop's career. Nick Stabile (Bride of Chucky, Dennis Wilson in ABC's award-winning The Beach Boys) heads the cast as once-great NASCAR racer Bobby Horvath in The Trip Back Down, opening Feb. 21 at the Whitefire Theatre.

Ballet San Jose Names Nathan Chaney as a Principal Dancer

Ballet San Jose Artistic Director José Manuel Carreño and Associate Artistic Director Raymond Rodriguez have announced that former Zurich Ballet Soloist Nathan Chaney will join Ballet San Jose as Principal Dancer effective January 13 as the Company prepares to open its 2014 repertory season—the first under the artistic leadership of Mr. Carreño—with a program of ballets by Ohad Naharin, George Balanchine and Jorma Elo February 14-16. American Repertory Ballet Hosts 'On Pointe' Event BEHIND THE MUSIC: STRAVINSKY'S FIREBIRD Today

This spring 2014 season, American Repertory Ballet will present the premiere of Douglas Martin's Firebird, set to Stravinsky's dramatic score. At 'Behind the Music: Stravinsky's Firebird', an On Pointe Enrichment Series event, ARB Artistic Director Douglas Martin and guest lecturer Maestro Michael Pratt will discuss this ballet's music and history. 'Behind the Music' will be held today, January 10, 2014 at 5:15pm at Princeton Ballet School (301 North Harrison Street, above McCaffrey's Supermarket).

Michael Praed to Star in THE WHITE CARNATION at Jermyn Street Theatre from Feb 4

Following a critically acclaimed and sell-out run at the Finborough Theatre, the first production in sixty years of R. C. Sherriff's supernatural drama, The White Carnation transfers for a limited three week run to Jermyn Street Theatre, opening on Tuesday, 4 February 2014 (Press Night: Thursday, 6 February 2014 at 7.30pm). The show stars Michael Praed (Design for Living - West End, Robin of Sherwood, Dynasty) who joins the existing superlative Finborough Theatre cast, which includes acclaimed newcomer Daisy Boulton and Benjamin Whitrow (Mr. Bennet in BBC's Pride and Prejudice).

Ballet San Jose Opens 2014 Season with NEOCLASSICAL TO NOW, 2/14-16

Following its tremendously successful gala in November—which featured some of the world's top ballet stars from American Ballet Theatre, New York City Ballet, San Francisco Ballet and Boston Ballet—and annual Nutcracker performances, Ballet San Jose will open its first repertory season planned by new Artistic Director José Manuel Carreño February 14-16 at the San Jose Center for the Performing Arts. The program will feature the Company premiere of Israeli choreographer Ohad Naharin's inventive and popular Minus 16, the return of Balanchine's sublimely neo-classical Serenade—the first ballet he choreographed in the U.S.—and Jorma Elo's Glow-Stop, which was a hit of Ballet San Jose's 2013 season. Performances will be given Friday, February 14, at 8 pm; Saturday, February 15, at 1:30 and 8 pm; and Sunday, February 16, at 1:30 pm.

Horse Trade Theater Group will present the 8th Annual FRIGID New York Festival at The Kraine Theater (85 East 4th Street between 2nd Avenue and Bowery) and UNDER St. Marks (94 St. Marks Place between 1st Avenue and Avenue A) February 19-March 9.
