Celebrating 45 Years as New York City's longest continually running black theatre, Dr. Barbara Ann Teer's National Black Theatre Inc. [NBT] is proud to announce our appointment of Jonathan McCrory as the Director of Theatre Arts Program. McCrory follows in the footsteps of the late Theatre Arts Director, Tunde Samuels, who held the position for 25 years. According to the theatre's official Facebook page, Spring Awakening veteran Andy Mientus and Broadway favorite Michael Arden are collaborating on a workshop of Spring Awakening featuring deaf actors at LA's Deaf West Theatre. The project features choreography by Spencer Liff, and will be presented in a showcase on July 19.
Made possible by the recent conversion of all three movie theatres to digital audio and sound, the Drexel Theatre now offers the latest in closed captioning technology, the Sony entertainment access glasses. Only the second movie theatre inColumbus to offer this cutting edge service, the system uses holographic technology to project closed caption text on the lenses of the glasses. The text appears to float over the cinema screen picture at a comfortable viewing distance, allowing patrons to enjoy a movie as if it was subtitled with no eye fatigue.
