Company C Contemporary Ballet Opens its 12th Season With its Winter Program, 1/30-2/16

Walnut Creek, CA, November 5, 2013 – Company C Contemporary Ballet opens its 12th season with a program featuring two premieres by Susan Jaffe and Charles Anderson, as well as works by Yuri Zhukov and Charles Moulton in six performances January 30 through February 16, 2014, in Walnut Creek and San Francisco. In addition, a gala performance, cocktail party, dinner and auction to benefit Company C will be given Saturday, February 15. Soledad Barrio & Noche Flamenca to Return to Joyce Theater, 12/3-15

Returning this December, following two sold-out, acclaimed engagements in 2011 and 2012, Soledad Barrio & Noche Flamenca will take the stage of The Joyce Theater for an extended two-week season from December 3 - 15, with a program entitled Sombras Sagradas (Sacred Dreams). Camille A. Brown & Dancers to Return to New York with Mr. TOL E. RAncE, 12/6-7

Camille A. Brown & Dancers, recognized for its visceral movement and unflinching approach to comedic and controversial themes, announces its upcoming New York return of Camille A. Brown's 2013 Mr. TOL E. RAncE. Presented as part of the 651 Arts 25th Anniversary Season, Black Dance: Traditions and Transformation series, the program will run two-nights at the Kumble Theater in Brooklyn, December 6-7, 2013. Scott Patterson will play live the original eclectic piano score-composed by Patterson, Brandon McCune, Jonathan Melville Pratt and Kurt "KC" Clayton.

Paul Szilard Memorial Celebration Set for the Joyce Today

There will be a memorial celebration for Paul Szilard (Dancer, Producer, Impresario and great friend to the arts) today, October 31st, 2013 at 1:30 pm at The Joyce Theater, 175 Eighth Avenue at 18th Street, NYC. There will be performances by the Martha Graham Dance Company, The Avlin Ailey American Dance Theater and Universal Ballet's Kirov Academy of Ballet; as well as reflections from some of his friends.

Dance Brazil, Cincinnati Ballet and More Set for Joyce Theatre in 2014

The Old Globe Sets MUCH ADO ABOUT NOTHING Cast and Creative Team

The Old Globe today announced the cast and creative team for The Old Globe/University of San Diego Graduate Theatre Program presentation of William Shakespeare's Much Ado About Nothing, running Nov. 9 - Nov. 17 in the Sheryl and Harvey White Theatre, part of the Globe's Conrad Prebys Theatre Center. Opening night is Nov. 9 at 8:00 p.m.

Savion Glover to Perform at Jorgensen, 11/1

Savion Glover grew up dancing with the greats and now, as he closes in on 40, he handsomely fills their tap shoes. He will display his skills and reverence for the art of tap on Jorgensen's stage Friday, Nov. 1, 2013, at 8 p.m. in SoLe Sanctuary: A Hoofer's Meditation on the Art of Tap.

Shirley Herz Memorial Set for Samuel J Friedman Theatre, 11/4

There will be a Celebration of legendary theatrical press agent Shirley Herz, on Monday, November 4th at 1:30 pm at the Samuel J Friedman Theatre, 261 West 47th Street, NYC. Some of the participants are Jeffrey Alper, Sam Altman, Barry Brown, Jan Buttram, Robert Callely, Tyne Daly, Jane Friedman, Diane Judge, Angela Lansbury, 'Charlotte Moore, Tom Rhoads, Liz Smith, Iris Williams and La Cage aux Folles' Original cast members: Betsy Craig, Dan Grady, Cady Huffman, David Jackson, Eric Lamp, Tom Sesma & Jennifer Smith. Musical accompaniment by Mark Hummel and Don Pippin.

There will be a memorial celebration for Paul Szilard (Dancer, Producer, Impresario and a great friend to the arts) on Thursday, October 31st, 2013 at 1:30 pm at The Joyce Theater, 175 Eighth Avenue at 18th Street, NYC. Participants will be LaRue Allen, Executive Director, Martha Graham Dance Company; Adrienne Dellas, Director of the Universal Ballet's Kirov Academy of Ballet in Washington, D.C.; Calvin Hunt, Senior Director, Performance and Production, the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater; Judith Jamison, and Artistic Director Emerita, The Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater. There will be performances by members of the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater performing 'Song for You' and an excerpt from 'Cry'; students from the senior division of the Kirov Academy of Ballet performing the Adagio and Coda from 'Sleeping Beauty'; and members of the Martha Graham Dance Company performing 'Ritual to the Sun' from Acts of Light. The public is invited.

Garth Fagan Dance to Return to Joyce Theater, 11/12-17

Garth Fagan's love of strong women is front and center in "No Evidence of Failure," which receives its world premiere when Garth Fagan Dance returns to The Joyce Theater, November 12-17. The two-program season also features the world premiere of "Gin," marking Norwood Pennewell's third work for the company. The season's revivals include Fagan's 1983 classic "Easter Freeway Processional" and "Senku," whose music will be played live by concert pianist William Chapman Nyaho. Also slated for Fagan's New York season are sections from last year's hit "Lighthouse/Lightning Rod," as well as Fagan's perennial opener "Prelude: Discipline is Freedom"

BWW Reviews: Lar Lubovitch Dance Company Celebrates 45th Anniversary at The Joyce

The 45th anniversary season of the Lar Lubovitch Dance Company provided a glimpse into Lar Lubovitch's prolific career as a dance maker, showcasing both well-known and new works. Program B, presented at The Joyce Theater from October 15-20, featured a variety of pieces that emphasize Lubovitch's talent for using several distinctive movement themes to create a wide variety of atmospheres and characters.

Houston Ballet Kicks Off 2013-14 Touring Season in NYC, Chicago, Paris and More!

Houston Ballet Artistic Director Stanton Welch announced touring plans for both the professional company and Houston Ballet II, the second company, for the 2013-2014 season today. During Mr. Welch's tenth anniversary as artistic director, touring engagements will take Houston Ballet to New York City, Paris, Montreal, and Chicago.

Montreal's Compagnie Marie Chouinard Set to Play at The Joyce Theater November 6-10
