In 'Viva la Evolución!' (www.vivalaevoluciontheshow.com), the comic actress Diana Yanez, a first-generation Cuban-American, takes us on her journey from Castro to Disco in a one-woman comedy of growing up Cuban and queer in Miami.

Oh, there were big goings-on in the Showtuneland of Chicago this past weekend! And a whole lot of talkin' goin' on. But before we get to that particular topic, I'd like to take this opportunity to share with you some Chicago-based highlights of my recent trip to New York: observations, thoughts and feelings that many of you may have had this spring or summer on a similar trip.

Last night, a sold-out crowd enjoyed the kick off performance of There Is Nothing Like A Dame: Marti Gould Cummings Live in Concert at The Duplex in New York City. Marti Gould Cummings is known for producing and hosting concerts with Broadway's top performers took to the stage last night for his very first solo concert.

Transport Group (TG), the winner of a special 2007 Drama Desk Award and 2007 and 2010 OBIE Awards, has announced that its production of the New York premiere of See Rock City & Other Destinations, music by Brad Alexander; book and lyrics by Adam Mathias; directed by Artistic Director Jack Cummings III, will extend one week through Saturday, August 14 at The Duke on 42nd Street, a New 42nd Street® project, 229 West 42nd Street.

Monkey With A Knife Productions is proud to present CLASSICALLY TRAINED, PRACTICALLY BROKE as part of the 14th annual New York International Fringe Festival - FringeNYC. Performers from Broadway's Spring Awakening, Annie Get Your Gun, Three Penny Opera, 42nd Street, Xanadu, Off-Broadway's Twist, Disappearing Acts, The Toxic Avenger and national tours of Joseph, Kiss Me Kate and Grease come together at The Duplex, 61 Christopher St. on Friday, September 10th at 7:00pm and Friday, September 17th at 9:30pm to raise funds for a feature length documentary, in production, 'WALK WITH ME', a project of aya arts and media.

Comedian Danny Leary (Logo Network, MTV, here! TV, Animal Planet) is back with a brand new variety show which will premiere in the plush new Copper Room at the comedy nightclub Comix.

John Forslund, Exec. Producer of JDProductions ('Bound for Broadway' Cabaret Showcases Sundays @ 9:30 pm at The Duplex) is launching a new charity-cabaret series to begin Monday, September 13th 9:30 PM at The Duplex Cabaret Theatre. JDProductions Gives Back: Broadway Off'Leash. Tickets are $10 with a 2 drink minimum, and all proceeds from JDProductions go to Abandoned Angels Cocker Rescue, a local animal rescue charity in Queens, New York. The benefit concerts will occur one Monday a month, and is already scheduled for Monday October 25th at 9:30 PM.
