Musically Human Theatre Productions (MHTP) has announced casting for the concert staging of 'Nevermore,' a new musical with music by Matt Conner ('The Hollow', 'Partial Eclipse'), book by Grace Barnes and lyrics adapted from the writings of Edgar Allan Poe.

The Meeting* hosted by Justin Sayre, called 'a riotously funny and campy variety show' by Next Magazine, and 'a rollicking, wry affair complete with funny political commentary on current events' by Gay City News, will present their newest edition on Thursday, November 17 at 9:30 PM.

Cover charges vary by performer. Most shows range from $15 to $35, with some exceptions. Each show's cover charge is listed in the show information on the calendar page. Feel free to call the Metropolitan Room with any questions regarding cover charges.

Broadway performer and personality Ben D Cameron (Wicked, Aida, Footloose) presents his first solo concert performance in over 2 years on October 15th at The Duplex in New York City. Presenting a full evening of songs by composer/lyricist Phil Putnam, Ben Cameron Does Phil Putnam moves Cameron from his renowned spot as live host and marks him center stage with songs to sing of daddy issues, love, sex, and fabulous geek-tastic self-deprecation.

Playwright Jason Odell Williams will be in residence at the Playhouse throughout the rehearsal and performance process. Two special 'Playwright Talk-backs' will take place after the 8 p.m. performance on November 10th and after the 3pm matinee performances on Sunday, November 13th and 20th. In the 2010-2011 season, three of Jason's plays were produced in New York. He began writing plays in 2007, and since then his work has been developed at Primary Stages, Manhattan Theatre Club, New Jersey Rep, The Bleecker Street Theatre, The Jewish Cultural Arts Theatre, Ensemble Studio Theatre, Rep Stage and The Baltimore Playwrights Festival.

I've been around many machines in my other life of manufacturing and have always bemoaned the fact that the United States was loosing it's supremacy in this area. I have now found a Human Cabaret Machine in West Greenwich Village in the person of Colleen Mchugh. This machine besides looking and sounding good, has a hard drive capable of massive amounts of lyric retention, a flash card that ad libs with awesome speed, and the ability to create new and distinct shows in rapid time. But unlike most machines, it can really think funny, witty and smart.
