Cabaret patroness Madame Mathieu has chosen Lindsay Brett Carothers (Bring It On, WICKED Tour) and Robi Hager (Spring Awakening, How to Succeed…) to be the guests of honor at her next soiree at The Duplex on Thursday, March 10th. Back by popular demand, the eclectic evening will feature an all new group of rising stars in stand-up, poetry, dance, songwriting, and performance art while Carothers and Hager will accept creative dares that arise from Mme. M's insane imagination. A variety show with an avant garde twist, the Soiree is as unpredictable as the patroness herself.

After their sold-out show at The Duplex in December, Disney Miscast!, Gay and Girl Studios return to The Duplex. The Many Roads to Oz is a cabaret involving all three of everyone's favorite journeys to the Emerald City. This show features songs from The Wiz, Wicked & The Wizard of Oz. All three in a combination to make for a wonderful night. The Many Roads to Oz is produced, written, and directed by Jason Hillard and Alexa Bishop of Gay and Girl Studios.

The brainchild of Metropolitan Room managing partner Bernie Furshpan, his General Manager Joseph Macchia, and Cabaret Scenes Magazine Publisher Peter Leavy, New York's first International Cabaret Festival (February 17-21) debuted Wednesday night at the Met Room with performances and inductions into the newly established Cabaret Hall of Fame (an actual location for Hall and its memorabilia to be determined at a later date). Clubs hosting this year's festival include The Metropolitan Room, Don't Tell Mama, The Duplex, Feinstein's/54 Below, Iridium, Joe's Pub, and Stage 72 (formerly The Triad).
August Strindberg Repertory to Stage DAMASCUS II, 3/12-4/2

From March 12 to April 2, August Strindberg Repertory will present Strindberg's 'Damascus II,' adapted by Edgar Chisholm, directed by Robert Greer. This is the second installment of the three-part work in which Strindberg first introduced true surrealism to the stage in the theatrical representation of the dream. Strindberg's tale of life in decadent artists' circles of 1890s Sweden will be brought to life in 1960s California and its leading character, an alienated writer, has been re-envisioned as an author modeled on Amiri Baraka.
