Virginia Rep to Present SHREK: THE MUSICAL, 3/14-4/27

Virginia Repertory Theatre opens their biggest show in the Children's season, Shrek, The Musical on Friday, March 14 at the Children's Theatre of Virginia at Willow Lawn, 1601 Willow Lawn Drive. The show will run through April 27, 2014 and is based on the Academy Award-winning film, Shrek. With book and lyrics by David Lindsay-Abaire and music by Jeanine Tesori, the timeless fairytale of rescued damsel in distress takes many fun and quirky twists as the green and stinky swampland ogre saves Princess Fiona and wins her love. The show lasts about two hours with intermission and is best enjoyed by children and adults alike 5 years and older

Alley Theatre Artistic Director Gregory Boyd announces the cast and creative team for the world premiere of a new comedy by Theresa Rebeck, Fool. In Rebeck's new comedy, two kings get together and place a wager on their fools - a jester competition, and the funniest one gets to keep his head. Two evil minions have a lot to say about this, but not as much as the kitchen wench. And what's the queen been up to all night? A dramatical comical farcical tragical play about power, love and laughter, set in a medieval kitchen. Adult Language, Adult Situations, Beheadings.

Everyday Wines Hosts Pre-Show Tasting at PN Theatre's COUNTY LINE Tonight

Everyday Wines is hosting a pre-show wine tasting at Performance Network Theatre for the world premiere of 'County Line' by David Wells tonight, February 6. The wine tasting will take place at 120 E. Huron, Ann Arbor tonight, February 6 at 6:30 p.m. (with an 7:30 p.m. performance of 'County Line'). The cost of the wine tasting is only $5 extra with the cost of a ticket purchase.

Disney's PETER PAN Added to Way Off Broadway's Children's Theatre Lineup

With the opening of The Children's Theatre at Way Off Broadway's 2014 Season, Bill Kiska, Way Off Broadway's Executive Producer, has also announced a change in the line-up of shows. The newly released stage production, Disney's Peter Pan Jr., will now make its area debut at Way Off Broadway beginning April 26, 2014. Peter Pan will be replacing the previously announced spring production of How I Became a Pirate.

Looking Glass Theatre will bring back a limited run of Frankie Little Hardin's East of the Sun, West of the Moon, a new children's play directed by Julia Sterling Martin. East of the Sun, West of the Moon will perform a limited engagement at The Gallery Players in Park Slope. Performances are scheduled for Saturdays, today, February 1st, March 22nd, May 3rd, May 31st, and June 21st.

Children's Theatre at Way Off Broadway PresentsTILLY THE TRICKSTER, Now thru 4/5

The Children's Theatre at Way Off Broadway has been a part of The Way Off Broadway Dinner Theatre, a leader in the region's theater community and one of the area's premiere entertainment venues, since 1996 when it opened with an original production of Sleep Beauty. That was the beginning of what would become one of the most popular family entertainment spots in Frederick. To this day, the Children's Theatre at Way Off Broadway is the area's only children's lunch theater, offering a family-friendly meal before each show.

Growing Stage to Present World Premiere of THE SECRET LIFE OF HUBIE HARTZEL, 2/7-3/2

The Growing Stage, The Children's Theatre of New Jersey, located in the Historic Palace Theatre on Route 183 in Netcong, New Jersey is proud to present the World Premiere of THE SECRET LIFE OF HUBIE HARTZEL from February 7th through March 2nd with performances Friday evenings at 7:30 PM, Saturday and Sunday matinees at 4:00 PM. The work was created by Susan Rowan Masters as a book and later as a radio play. Masters took her work and adapted it for the stage for submission to The Growing Stage's 2013 New Play Reading Festival, in which she won. THE SECRET LIFE OF HUBIE HARTZEL is the first world premiere in the company's history and is under the direction of Stephen L. Fredericks, The Growing Stage's Executive Director.

Everyman Theatre to Host Panel this Weekend with Top-Level Theatrical Leaders

On this Saturday, January 18th, Everyman Theatre welcomes top-level theatrical leaders for its panel discussion entitled "How Women's Voices in the Theatre Reflect Our Culture." The panel is a part of the new discussion series, The World of the Play, which began earlier this season.
