The Maine State Ballet unveiled its charming, colorful production of Alice in Wonderland this weekend in Falmouth to the delight of its multi-generational audience. The lavish and lovely production with choreography by Linda MacArthur Miele is faithful to Lewis Carroll's tale and brings to life the author's principal characters.
I wish I could write everything I found beautiful or hilarious or imaginative in this show, but there isn't room. You need to jump down that rabbit hole and see for yourself. Yes, it's impossible to be perfect, but as Alice says, 'I believe in the impossible.' I'm already calling this as a nominee for several awards.
Maine State Ballet takes you down the rabbit hole this spring with a three week run of the comic ballet, Alice in Wonderland, March 23 through April 8, at Maine State Ballet's Lopez Theater.
The children's classic Alice in Wonderland becomes a surreal adventure in Area Stage Company's latest musical production for its youngest artists. Director and designer Giancarlo Rodaz's wildly re-imagined version of the Disney animated film, performed by a dynamic cast of child actors and featuring original costume and set designs, will captivate kids and adults alike with its dark, fantastical vision of a girl who grapples with a nonsensical world.
With luck, there'll be a repeat visit sometime soon.

'Shakespeare in Love' will be onstage at The Shakespeare Theatre of New Jersey through November 12. Based on the screenplay by Marc Norman and Tom Stoppard, the show is directed by the theatre's Artistic Director, Bonnie J. Monte with music by Paddy Cunneen. The delightful production of ALICE AND THE BOOK OF WONDERLAND, produced by the Annapolis Shakespeare Company has found a way to make the story of Alice and Wonderland new and fresh for children and adults alike. That's no easy feat. Alice and Wonderland is a reliable classic that most people know back to front. What ASC has managed to do is keep all the standard parts of the story that everyone loves, while telling the story in an entirely new and creative way. They've also managed to throw a few very funny nods in to current events that seem to bring the classic further into current times
