Lauper, Janney, Bean & More Join DEFYING INEQUALITY Feb. 23

On Monday evening, February 23 at 8:00pm, the Broadway community (and beyond) is coming together for one of the most important events of the year - Defying Inequality: The Broadway Concert -- A Celebrity Benefit for Equal Rights, a one-night only concert event at the Gershwin Theatre (222 W. 51st Street).

Star-Studded 'DEFYING INEQUALITY' Benefit Concert Soars at Gershwin 2/23

On Monday evening, February 23 at 8:00pm, the Broadway community (and beyond) is coming together for one of the most important events of the year - Defying Inequality: The Broadway Concert -- A Celebrity Benefit for Equal Rights, a one-night only concert event at the Gershwin Theatre (222 W. 51st Street). The special star-studded evening will feature performers from stage & screen - from Saturday Night Live to Spring Awakening - all to benefit Family Equality Council, Empire State Pride Agenda, Equality California, Garden State Equality, and The Vermont Freedom to Marry Task Force. 100% of the profits from this spectacular event will be donated directly to Family Equality Council, Empire State Pride Agenda, Equality California, Garden State Equality, and The Vermont Freedom to Marry Task Force, five charitable organizations working to promote equality and protect civil rights for the gay and lesbian community. Defying Inequality: The Broadway Concert, A Celebrity Benefit for Equal Rights, is produced by 4Good Productions, the same presenters of the 2005 event Broadway's Celebrity Benefit for Hurricane Relief at the Gershwin Theatre. Featuring over 200 Broadway performers, the 2005 event raised more than $200,000 in just one night. Tonight, Friday, January 23rd, THE AFTER PARTY is thrilled to welcome Broadway's JESSE NAGER and Seven-time MAC Award Winner NATALIE DOUGLAS. JESSE NAGER's Broadway credits include MARY POPPINS, MAMMA MIA, and GOOD VIBRATIONS. Off-Broadway: FAME ON 42ND ST. Regional: Stephen Sondheim's BEING ALIVE, Frank Wildhorn's WAITING FOR THE MOON, ONCE ON THIS ISLAND as Daniel (Reprise!), and shows at North Shore Music Theater, Pittsburgh CLO, The MUNY, and many more. Jesse has been seen onstage singing with Mariah Carey, Shania Twain, and Jason Mraz. He is a member of the Broadway Inspirational Voices. Jesse is also the founder and member of the Broadway Boys, a collection of the hottest NY tenors adding elements of funk, gospel, pop, and rock to traditional showtunes. Composer and lyricist Scott Alan will return to Birdland on January for a concert featuring a starry line-up of Broadway performers. The January 12th performance will feature selections from Alan's debut CD, 'Dreaming Wide Awake' and his recently released CD 'Keys.' Scheduled to appear at the 7pm concert include: Lisa Brescia, Heidi Blickenstaff, Jenn Colella, Erin Davie, Sutton Foster, Hadley Fraser, Nikki M. James, Marcus Paul James, Kenita Miller, Lauren Thomas, Katie Thompson, Natalie Weiss and The Broadway Boys.

Julie Wilson, the legendary theatre and cabaret star, will make a guest appearance at Steven Brinberg's A Simply Barbra Holiday Spectacular.She joins the previously announced Tituss Burgess and The Broadway Boys. The event will benefit The Ali Forney Center, New York's primary emergency housing resource for homeless LGBT youth. A Simply Barbra Holiday Spectacular will play at Symphony Space (2357 Broadway at 95th Street) on Saturday, December 20 at 8 pm.

The Broadway Boys presented 'BROADWAY SINGS FOR TOYS!' a benefit for Toys For Tots. This year was the 4th installment of this special holiday concert/celebration. The benefit took take place December 14th at 9PM at The Zipper Factory, 336 W. 37th Street.
