Baby Jane Dexter's new show, Rules of the Road,(Part 3) debuts at Metropolitan Room for seven performances only beginning tonight, November 21 and running todays, and Saturdays through December 27.

I talked to Bayou City Theatrics' Luke Hamilton, Jane Volke, and Colton Berry about the BctEDU program and the company's foray into the tiny town of FOOTLOOSE.

With one night down in THE VOICE's Live Playoffs (read my review of last night's show here), the teams are taking shape, but, as of yet, no one has blown the doors off the joint. Proving that Shakespeare is for all ages and all people, Westridge School in Pasadena is getting ready to open an all-female 1990's grunge-inspired production of Hamlet, starring Madeleine Russell in the title role. Anyone who has ever worked on the play, and particularly on that role, will tell you that it is a huge undertaking and one that presents many opportunities for growth, both as an actor and as a person.

Bottom line is, I'm better at it than I am anything else. A secondary benefit was meeting girls. But now I get paid to play music, do movies, commercials, print... all kinds of stuff. Also girls.

Enjoying its 29th season, Terrific New Theatre is presenting THE FANTASTICKS now through September 13th. Directed by TNT founder Carl Stewart, a fixture in the Birmingham theatre scene for over 50 years, this production definitely has its ups and downs.

IMAX Corporation (NYSE: IMAX; TSX: IMX), Universal Pictures, a division of Comcast Corp. (CMCSA) and EuropaCorp announced that Lucy, the new thriller from acclaimed filmmaker Luc Besson that stars Scarlett Johansson and Academy Award winner Morgan Freeman, will be digitally re-mastered into the immersive Imax format and released into Imax theatres in select international territories starting today, August 8.

The annual New York Musical Theatre Festival (NYMF) is a fertile ground for quirky, offbeat musicals, giving invaluable exposure to new projects. When I first heard that ZOMBIE STRIPPERS would be performing at NYMF this year, I couldn't help but get excited. The title alone offers enough titillating connotations to tantalize the brain, filling it with voluminous curiosity as to how a creative team makes a musical about strippers who happen to also be zombies. Unfortunately, the current end product leaves something to be desired.
