Toni Braxton, DJ Ruckus, Leslie & Tom Maheras Set for 10th Annual Ailey at the Apollo, 5/8

Stars of Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, gifted young dancers from The Ailey School and, for the first time ever, talented students from AileyCamp will come together for a spectacular one-night performance on Tuesday, May 8th at 7pm on the world famous Apollo stage. Led by new Artistic Director Robert Battle, the Spring Gala Benefit performance will be at the Apollo Theater (253 W 125th Street, between 7th & 8th Avenues). A gala party with festive dress, décor and dancing to music by the famed DJ Ruckus will conclude the 10th annual celebration.

BET Networks Unveils New 2012 Programming Line-Up

During its annual Upfront presentation to the advertising community, BET Networks, the leading provider of content to black consumers globally, will reveal its new programming content including scripted programs and original movies for both BET and CENTRIC as well as new web series for BET.com.

American Idol's Syesha Mercado to Lead Paper Mill Playhouse's ONCE ON THIS ISLAND!

Paper Mill Playhouse has just announced that American Idol finalist Syesha Mercado has been cast as Ti Moune in the Millburn, New Jersey, theater's production of Once On This Island (book and lyrics by Lynn Ahrens, music by Stephen Flaherty). More than 20 years after its premiere, Stephen Flaherty and Lynn Ahrens are re-inventing their first musical with Tony-nominated director Thomas Kail (In the Heights, Lombardi, Magic/Bird) and choreographer Bradley Rapier (So You Think You Can Dance). Once On This Island begins performances on Wednesday, May 30, 2012, and runs through Sunday, June 24, 2012. Complete casting will be announced at a later date. Andrew Lloyd Webber Sells The Palace Theatre - Home of JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR, SINGIN' IN THE RAIN & More- to Nimax Theatres Ltd

In 2005 Andrew Lloyd Webber's Really Useful Theatres sold his four playhouses, the Lyric, Apollo, Garrick and Duchess theatres to Nica Burns and Max Weitzenhoffer who formed Nimax Theatres Limited, adding the Vaudeville Theatre in 2008. Today Burns and Weitzenhoffer are also the proud owners of the spectacular Palace Theatre with its prime location on Shaftesbury Avenue, currently home to Stage Entertainment's hit revival of Chichester Festival Theatre's Singin' in the Rain.

Point Park's Conservatory Dance Company Plays the Byham Theatre, 4/19-21

Point Park University's Conservatory Dance Company will perform their annual concert at the Byham Theater in the Cultural District April 19 - 21, 2012. The concert will feature signature works choreographed by dance luminaries Val Caniparoli, Martha Graham, Kevin Iega Jeff and Ohad Naharin.

Steve Harvey Comes to the Fox Theatre, 6/9

Entertainer, television host of Family Feud, top radio personality, actor, comedian and best-selling author Steve Harvey will bring his final comedy tour, "Steve Harvey Live: The Grand Finale" to the Fox Theatre on Saturday, June 9 at 8 p.m.

Theatre Exile Presents A BEHANDING IN SPOKANE, 4/19-5/13

Theatre Exile will present the final show of their 15th season with the Philadelphia premiere of A Behanding in Spokane by Martin McDonagh. Directed by Exile's Artistic Director Joe Canuso and starring Pearce Bunting, Amanda Schoonover, Matt Pfeiffer and Reuben Mitchell, A Behanding in Spokane will be running from April 19th to May 13th , with the official press opening on the 25th of April. Honorary producers for the show are June and Steve Wolfson.

Apollo Theatre Celebrates Women's History Month

In celebration of Women's History Month, the Apollo Theater will host Behind the Scenes: Women in Theatre on Monday, March 12. The free panel, which focuses on women's careers in the theatrical industry, is presented by the Apollo Theater Education Program, the Mayor's Office of Media and Entertainment, The Broadway League and the League of Professional Theatre Women, as part of the "Made in NY" Industry Series. The panel begins at 6:30p.m. and is free and open to the public.
