Jupitus Joins Cast Of URINETOWN From Dec 2014!

Renowned comedian Phill Jupitus (Never Mind The Buzzc*cks, QI, Hairspray, Monty Python's Spamalot) will join the cast of Jamie Lloyd's ground breaking, splash hit production of Urinetown The Musical from 1 December 2014.

Apollo Chorus to Celebrate 135 Years of Performing Handel's MESSIAH in December

The Apollo Chorus, Chicago's oldest musical organization, will perform their signature rendition of the choral masterpiece Handel's 'Messiah' on Saturday, December 6 at 3:00 p.m. at Orchestra Hall at Symphony Center, 220 S. Michigan Ave., and Saturday, December 20 at 3:00 p.m. at Harris Theater for Music & Dance, 205 E. Randolph Drive. Handel's 'Messiah' has been performed by The Apollo Chorus nearly every December since 1879. Few works today are as celebrated or beloved as Handel's Messiah, and this annual performance has become a holiday tradition for many Chicago families.

HIP HOP NUTCRACKER Set for United Palace, 12/7

Holiday magic is coming to New York City's most enchanting theatre when The Hip Hop Nutcracker makes its debut at the United Palace, Manhattan's 4th largest theatre, on Sunday, December 7 at 5pm. The Hip Hop Nutcracker is directed and choreographed by Jennifer Weber of the Brooklyn-based all femalle hip-hop company Decadancetheatre, and is adapted to contemporary New York City by Mike Fitelson. The production is set to Tchaikovsky's The Nutcracker with hip hop interludes remixed and re-imagined by DJ Boo and violinist Filip Pogády.

Tony Nominee Brenda Braxton to Headline ON KENTUCKY AVENUE at Triad/Stage72, 12/02-09

On Tuesdays, December 2nd and 9th, Wednesday December 3rd @ 7pm, The Triad/Stage72, 158 West 72nd Street, hosts an encore performance of On Kentucky Avenue: The Atlantic City Club Harlem Revue - an homage to the now defunct historical "Club Harlem." Club Harlem was an Atlantic City venue, which hosted all "the greats" such as Nancy Wilson, Sammy Davis, Jr., Ella Fitzgerald and many more.

The Apollo Chorus will begin its 2014-2015 year with its 16th Annual free 'Music in the Neighborhood' concert on Sunday, November 2 at 3:30 p.m. at St. John Cantius Church, 825 N. Carpenter St. The concert will be an electrifying preview of the upcoming season, showcasing beautiful works by composers including Handel, Schubert and Lauridsen.

2014 Bessie Award Winners Announced

The New York Dance and Performance Awards (The Bessies), NYC's premier dance awards honoring outstanding creative work in the field, announced tonight the complete list of 2013-14 season award recipients. The Bessies, produced in partnership with Dance/NYC, were held at the legendary Apollo Theater at 7:30 p.m., following red carpet interviews and photographs with the nominees in attendance. NYC First Lady Chirlane McCray gave opening remarks, and Lisa Kron, whose hit musical Fun Home will make its Broadway debut this year, hosted the evening.
