This New Musical Is Inspiring Kids To Save The Planet!

The American Theatre of Actors (ATA) latest production, The Man Who Found Troy, is a fascinating look at the story of Henry Schliemann, who discovered the ancient city of Troy shortly before the turn of the century. The play, written by award-winning, New York playwright, Joe Krawczyk is directed by Eddie Lew, and features Chelsea Clark as Sophia Schliemann, Johnny Blaze Leavitt as Henry Schliemann, Stephen Goodin as Frank Calvert. This cast of 3 also takes turns playing other characters in history, as the 'epic journey' takes place over a 20 year period.

Plays, Directors And Cast Of Staged Readings Announced For ARTEMISIA FALL FESTIVAL

Six directors and 30 actors from the Chicago theatre community will collaborate to create staged readings of six new feminist plays in the Artemisia Fall Festival 2018, to be performed September 24-26 and October 1-3 at The Edge Theater at 5451 N. Broadway. Artemisia Founding Artistic Director Julie Proudfoot and Literary Manager Sharai Bohannon have curated the festival from submissions solicited from writers, agents and literary managers across the US with whom the company has had working professional relationships. One play from the six to be performed will be chosen for further development by Artemisia Artistic Director Proudfoot, who will work closely with the playwright over the next two years to develop their feminist story for a full production in Chicago.

BWW Review: BLACKBIRD at Sargent Theatre at the American Theatre for Actors is Timely and Important Storytelling

'Blackbird,' is currently being presented at the Sargent Theatre at the American Theatre of Actors. In the play written by David Harrower, Una, a 27 year old woman, shows up at the workplace of an acquaintance, 'Peter', with an axe to grind. Fifteen years earlier, they had a relationship which had ended abruptly. At the time, Peter (or as Una knows him, Ray) was 40.

Artemisia Announces Fall Festival 2018

Artemisia launches its 2018-19 Theatre Season with six ground breaking and all-new feminist plays featured in Fall Festival 2018. The 6th Act Announces Stellar Cast for AN EVENING OF BETRAYAL at Theatre 68

 Artistic Directors Matthew Leavitt and Liza Seneca of THE 6TH ACT Theatre Company, along with acclaimed directorElizabeth Swain announce the cast for their Inaugural production, AN EVENING OF BETRAYAL.  They are thrilled to sign such a stellar cast for this complex production, a unique combination of Harold Pinter's Betrayaland an extremely condensed version of Shakespeare's Othello. The show will open June 1st, 2018, at Theatre 68's MainStage Theatre.

Stage and Film Writer, Steve Silver's Last Play To Be Produced at the American Theatre of Actors

Acclaimed character actor, Ken Coughlin reprises his role as mob boss, Mickey 'Mirrors' Miraglia, in this extended version of Steve Silver's original one-act, Mirrors. Now a full-length, we meet Mickey on the eve of his 'retirement.' Leaving the mob is not an easy thing. His journey has a lot of stops along the way. The new play features Mr. Coughlin with Norberto Cancel, Elena Crociani, Tom Kalnas, Daniel Mirra, Manny Rey, and Daddy Tom. Stage and film director, Laurie Rae Waugh returns to direct this piece after directing the original one-act.

The American Theatre of Actors Presents BLACKBIRD

'The conversation is not over.'  It's a fitting motto for the upcoming performance of David Harrower's 'Blackbird,' presented by Blackbird Productions OLZ, LLC.  The American Theatre of Actors in the Sargent Theater will be the epicenter for this limited engagement.  Starting June 7th, show times will be Thursday through Saturday at 8 PM, with a Sunday performance at 3 PM, through June 17th.  General admission tickets are $40 each.

Epic Theatre Ensemble Promotes Melissa Friedman And James Wallert To Co-Artistic Directors

Epic Theatre Ensemble, a diverse group of artists and collaborators who empower students through theater to address social issues, particularly in the New York City public schools they serve, today announced two promotions to its executive leadership team. Co-founders Melissa Friedman and James Wallert have been named as Co-Artistic Directors.
