Capital Stage continues its 2017-18 Season: Future Tense with the Sacramento Premiere of Luna Gale by Award Winning Playwright Rebecca Gilman. This 2015 Los Angeles Drama Critics Circle Award Winning play tells the story of a fight for who and what is best for the future of baby Luna. Following the most well attended season in the company's history, African-American Shakespeare Company (AASC) will expand back to four productions this season, beginning with A Midsummer Night's Dream (fittingly for San Francisco, coming in mid-September when the city's weather is at its warmest and most benevolent), set in the twin-island country of Tobago and Trinidad during Carnival.

The Central Works 2017 season concludes this Fall with Strange Ladies by Susan Sobeloff opening with a press night on Saturday October 14 running through November 12 (previews Oct 12 & 13) at the renowned Berkeley City Club. Strange Ladies is a Central Works Method Musical inspired by the Suffrage movement. The production is told with music of the period under the musical direction of Milissa Carey. 1917: a diverse group of Suffragists are fighting to gain the vote for women as the US entered World War I. Torn between loyalty to their political cause and loyalty to the war effort, these women each struggle to make difficult choices in a time of tremendous social upheaval. The personal pits each against the political in Strange Ladies.

Award-winning actor and writer, Dominique Salerno, premiered the solo-show at FringeNYC in 2016 where it played to packed houses and was awarded an Overall Excellence Award in Solo Performance. THE BOX SHOW also had a successful run at the Fringe Encore Series where it was selected (among nine other plays out of 200) to have an extended run at the Soho Playhouse. In September 2016, the comedic show played at the United Solo Festival on Theatre Row where it was awarded best comedic script.
