Roundabout Theatre Company (Todd Haimes, Artistic Director), in association with Ryan Murphy, just announced that Academy Award nominee Michael Shannon will return to Broadway as "James Tyrone, Jr." in Eugene O'Neill's Long Day's Journey Into Night, joining the previously announced Academy and Emmy Award winner Jessica Lange as "Mary Tyrone," Golden Globe winner and Tony Award nominee Gabriel Byrne as "James Tyrone," and Tony Award winner John Gallagher Jr. as "Edmund Tyrone." Jonathan Kent will direct, as part of Roundabout Theatre Company's 50th anniversary season.
Creative writing students ages 12 to 16 from Long Island¹s Usdan Center for the Creative and Performing Arts, the acclaimed summer arts day camp whose alumni include Natalie Portman, Mariah Carey, Jane Monheit, Taylor Dayne, Jackie Hoffman and Broadway playwright Michele Lowe, have joined for the third season with students of the same age from the Brooklyn Academy of Music (BAM) Summer Youth Program in a unique two-week joint workshop through July 31.

The event took place at the Metropolitan Club (One East 60th Street, NYC), and was emceed by Julie Halston, with special guests Betty Buckley, Charles Busch, Mary-Louise Parker, John Patrick Shanley, Roma Torre and more. Dallas Theater Center announced today the two recipients of the 2013-2014 Project Discovery Distinguished Educator of the Year Award. Shawn Brentham from Irving High School and Catherine Hopkins from W. H. Adamson High School are the first ever co-recipients of the award. The educators have been involved with Project Discovery for five years and together have brought 2,500 students to 28 productions at DTC.
