Da Camera Finishes Season With DIANNE REEVES, 6/1

Da Camera of Houston is proud to present celebrated jazz vocalist Dianne Reeves as part of Da Camera's jazz series. The performance closes out the 2017-2018 season and takes place at the Cullen Performance Hall on the University of Houston campus on Friday, June 1, 2018, at 8 PM.

Ken Peplowski Comes to The Bickford Theatre 5/3

Jazz clarinetist Ken Peplowski will pay tribute to jazz legend Benny Goodman at the Bickford Theatre on Thursday, May 3.  He and his Sextet, featuring Chuck Redd on vibes, Rossano Sportiello on piano, Sean Smith on bass, Matt Witek on drums, and Hilary Gardner on vocals, remember the great clarinetist in celebration of the 80th anniversary of the famous Carnegie Hall Jazz Concert of 1938.

The Clayton-Hamilton Jazz Orchestra Comes to The Soraya, 4/5

The Grammy-nominated Clayton-Hamilton Jazz Orchestra, which captures the infectious fun of big band music, will perform at the Younes and Soraya Nazarian Center for the Performing Arts (The Soraya) on Thursday, April 5 at 8:00pm.  Jazz Times called the Los Angeles-based band, with a 32-year history, "one of current jazz's most vital large ensemble." Co-founder bassist John Clayton is a CSUN alumnus who has gone on to play with superstars such as Michael Jackson, Patti LaBelle and Madonna.

Famed Jazz Banjoist/Entertainer Brings Her Swingin' Sound to Birdland

CYNTHIA SAYER, the internationally celebrated jazz banjoist and vocalist, will lead her Joyride Quartet in The Hot Jazz Banjo Show in a rare New York City concert appearance at the legendary jazz club Birdland on Thursday, March 15 at 6:00 PM. Birdland is located at 315 W. 44th Street in Manhattan. Tickets: $30.

The date was January 16, 1938 at Carnegie Hall the hallowed venue for respectable classical music. There, Benny Goodman's band played swing music for the first time, with one of the earliest racially-integrated jazz groups.

Jazz Legend Marlene Verplanck to Perform at Westchester Collaborative Theater

On Today, October 14, Westchester Collaborative Theater will continue its acclaimed Jazz Masters series with jazz and pop legend Marlene Verplanck of whom The New York Times wrote 'She may be the most accomplished interpreter of popular material performing today.' Jazz Journal International Review called her the 'finest canary in captivity' and Downbeat Magazine rated her recently released CD, 'The Mood I'm In' as one of 2016's best - making her the only singer to be included in the prestigious listing. Verplanck will perform at WCT's Black Box performance space for 2 sets at 7:30 and 9:00pm.
